happy Fab Friday
I'm off to a flying start today. I normally don't work Fridays, but this is the first Friday I've had to myself since before Xmas. So far, I've done some home waxing, had a nice soak in the bath with a bath bomb, plus painted my toe nails. I need to pop out, but I'll treat myself to a nice lunch. I'm getting a bit of a rough time at work, so I feel like I need a bit of pampering.0 -
I have the day off to Chanie - I have a hair appointment this afternoon but haven't done much so far apart from have a lie-in and breakfast!
I had a spa day last Friday with a scrub and a facial which was fabulous, and we went home via TKMaxx where I managed to pick up lots of body lotion and handcream (you can never have too much of either!), a body scrub, facial scrub and foot cream. After a week using the foot cream twice a day (with socks at night) and having found my intensive foot cream (burts bees coconut) and used it once my feet are much better. Another quick visit to a different TK Maxx on Wednesday resulted in a facial scrub, mask, foam roller (must start running again) and some more pink grapefruit and argan oil which I picked up on Friday and LOVE - it's moisturising and energising!
All brands I'd normally buy, but cheaper, so worth a look if you're passing.
Getting back to regular exercise, although it's not helping with sleep as I'm making up my steps late at night due to not managing them during the day. I need to fix that! Slowly improving diet, although I could do with making more progress.
Guess I should make an effort to be a bit more fab than usual for my visit to the hairdresser... maybe even use a little makeup...0 -
Glad to hear you're both pampering yourselves on days off chanie and greenbee.:T
I'd definitely recommend make up for going to the hairdresser. I always find I look so pale and drained in their mirrors otherwise.
I'm pleased to report I've managed footcream on 6 out of 7 days this week. Really pleased with that.:)
I've seen off a small body lotion (just a Boots Sanctuary) that came with a gift pack. I'm getting a good feeling using things up as then I can just buy stuff that 'bring me joy'.;)
I'll soon need a new mascara. I like Benefit They're Real but the black is a bit too dramatic for daytime and the brown almost invisible. Ideally I'd have a brown/black which was thickening/lengthening. Any recommendations?
I'm doing Fab Friday although quite casual. It's mild and damp here but promises to get wild and windy later.
Have a good day all.:)0 -
I've just got back home following a nice lunch in IKEA. I had the salmon and wheat pilaf, which was lovely and frugal, as it was under £5. I also treated myself to a t shirt from TK Maxx. It's a brand I've heard of, but more importantly it's lovely thick cotton.
I'm lying in my bed on my tablet in absolute silence. It's, bliss and well needed.
green bee I hope you like your hair after your trip to the hairdressers.
maman sorry, I can't recommend any mascara.0 -
maman - I recently bought an Elizabeth Arden mascara (Grand Entrance) and quite like it.
Greenbee & chanie I am jealous of your trips to TK Maxx! I daren't go in there on a whim because I'll spend a fortune on things I don't need.
Mom asked me to take my sister out this weekend and convince her to buy some nice things for the holiday. By "nice", I mean she isn't the sort to try on new things and she's quite self conscious. We'll be shopping largely in Primark but I think we might have to hunt quite hard for nice swimwear as it's a bit out of season and she doesn't want a bikini. I want her to be comfortable but perhaps the Speedo costume you'd wear to do laps at the local pool isn't "it"?
I don't think I need anything but I need to check my own bikini still fits. I got some lightweight pants in the January sales and I have plenty of t-shirts. Maybe a hat of some sort as mine is probably totally misshapen because it's been living in the suitcase.0 -
dd265 it probably is slightly too early to look for holiday stuff, but shops are getting stuff in all the time. I think M &S and Debenhams are always a safe bet. If the budget allows, Accessorize has some nice beachwear, like bags, flip flops and beach dresses.
I've only recently 'discovered' TK Maxx. I'm quite a lazy shopper in that I don't like to rummage, so I've always avoided TK Maxx. I popped in one day when I had time to spare and I found that there were departments, where the items are displayed which don't require rummaging (homewares, tights/socks). The top I bought today was on an aisle end, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered!!0 -

TKMaxx has improved a lot in terms of display. Our local one used to be like a jumble sale but now it's far more civilised. Glad you treated yourself to something chanie. I must go into Ikea's restaurant again soon. Ours is lovely and light and airy and I'm always pleased if I can get a window seat.
Primark has started getting swimwear in DD. I saw a turquoise lace kaftan type thing in there which I'm going to buy as I have a turquoise and white bikini. It's only £4 so won't break the bank! I didn't look to see if they had one piece costumes. I don't wear them myself as I have a long body and find them uncomfortable. Matalan's usually worth a look and I've also had nice ones from Tesco. They've got plenty on line so hopefully in the shops too.
The weather's really horrid here this evening. I won't be going far from the sofa.:)0 -
Maman - I added some Dr. Hauschka tint to my moisturiser this morning (I've been meaning to try it for ages) and it worked very well. I also added eyeliner and mascara and filled in my eyebrows with powder.green bee I hope you like your hair after your trip to the hairdressers.
I'm very lucky - I always LOVE my hair after I see my hairdresser. She's been doing it for about 12 years now, and I've never had a bad cut or colour. She still asks me whether I've got any preferences, but I always leave it up to her to do what she wants - I've had some amazing transformations as a result. At the moment she's doing variations on the same style and colour, but I know that at some point she'll have something different she wants to do (actually, its possible she will next time as New York and London Fashion Week are coming up, and although she's not doing NY this year she is doing London).
I'm glad you had a nice day - I didn't get round to lunch as when I came out from having my hair done there was torrential rain so I did my essential shopping (bodyshaping tights for work) and then came home via our local 'vintage' emporium but didn't find anything I needed in amongst the tat.Greenbee & chanie I am jealous of your trips to TK Maxx! greenbee I'd love to have a hairdresser like yours. I tried loads of hairdresser over the years and most don't really know what to do with curly hair - they either cut it too long or too short. Plus, when I ask for suggestions on cuts, they don't seem to want to help.
I'm getting my hair coloured in a couple of weeks. There is a local hairdressers I thought I'd try. Fingers crossed they are okay.0
