Good evening and Happy New Year;
I've been hearing "Chinese whispers" so would welcome a definitive response before I do or do not contact DWP next week.
I am on ESA and receive a disability premium as I am also on enhanced rate PIP. No-one claims carers allowance for me and I live with my Mum. Its been pretty crap year and Mum herself cannot work and has just been awarded PIP; am I now able to claim enhanced disability premium? If so, is it automatically added or (I expect) I have to apply? If so, who to and is it backdated from the date her PIP starts or the day I contact them?
Thank you in advance

It's Severe Disability Premium. EDP is automatically added to your income related ESA claim if you are in the support group.
You need to ring the DWP - use the number on your ESA award letter. Tell them you want to apply for SDP. They will send you out a simple form to fill in and send back.
If eligible full payments will be back dated to your mums pip award, assuming she receives the daily living component.
You may also have had some entitlement to the SDP since your own pip award but the rules on this are more compex.
