Had 2 punnets of YS mushrooms to make into soup - got them all chopped with the onions and sauted - the long life milk I used had separated & didn't notice until I'd used half so the whole lot went down the waste disposal :(

    Bummer. :(
Must admit wool stash is almost out of control.

Only almost? Mine definitely is and I'm determined to beat it into submission! It might just take a long while. :D On the plus side, I haven't bought any this year but I do get twitchy sometimes. ;)

On the minimising front I'm hoping to sell some unwanted books on one of the websites that pays cash for them; I just need to get myself in gear for a marathon session of entering the ISBNs. If they don't want them then I'll just have to take them bit by bit to the CS.

My making do atm is using up a deodorant I'd got for DH that he doesn't like -he says it's got a "girly" fragrance - but I'm fine with it. :D

No mending done but I know there's a big pile to tackle. :o Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

Noticed the other day that the blackberries seem to be ripening earlier than normal (usually end of Aug/beg of Sept in Yorkshire) so if the weather brightens up a bit this week I could be out foraging so I can make some jam.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.

    Evening All

Well, today a breakthrough with 'DIL'. We (need to explain that DS1 +'DIL' + baby 17th months old + 2 large dogs live with me at mo) needed washing up liquid (explanation later) we took the baby to the park and we then went on to L!dil. We emerged for the first time since they moved in, having spent exactly 62p - the price of the washing up liquid!! She dithered and dalied with other stuff but I stood firm to her blandishments and said 'Well, if its still here on Thursday (our shopping day) and we feel we need it - we can get it then'. Self discipline!

Isn't it strange tho how conditioned we are to come out of a supermarket with more than one item. It felt quite weird! Even to me!

    Making do:

Sticking to meal plan and spent only £20 for us all this week (well, + 62p). Also using fresh air and sunshine to dry washing - we - MM&Mers - dont think about it do we but 'DIL's sister described my long term and 'DIL's acquired habit of waiting to do our washing until a nice sunny day (or at least blowing day) as odd and ridiculous. To be fair to 'DIL' she laughed at her! :)

Mend (or make do) our foul water drain got blocked and my dear poor DS1 had his (gloved) hands above his wrists in the proverbial but managed to unblock it - loads of washing up liquid and bleach were used to clean the surrounding area afterwards (hence unusual trip to L!dil for one item). Still didnt work out what blocked it but we are all going to to be v more careful from now on. Bless me boy :A - saved me a fortune in plumbers etc (I would know what to do but am no longer physically strong enough to remove manhole covers! :rotfl:

Minimise: Well lost another 2 pounds this week (in weight) which is good and found that I could haul size 16 denim shorts up over me backside - even though they were in no way gonna do up :rotfl: But am pleased with this. 'DIL' had another turn out of clothes this week and some are going the chazzer - I know they will only get rag money for some of them but it is all cash. Also used up another couple of bottles of sauces and spices from stash - so they've gone in the recycling and the sauces etc in our tummies!

May be going up country in mid-August to a free festival my son used to have a lot to do with so need dosh for travel expenses so must e-bay tomorrow to be able to afford to do this! Minimise minimise minimise!!

Am gonna go through diary tomorrow to work out how many NSDs for July! Came in under budget by £62.40 so hoping the NSDs also look good!
    Frugaling onward folks
Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!

Not been too good but cleared a couple of areas of mess in the garden.
Minimizing courgettes in the garden. Some are being given to friends.

Made do by using some tinned fruit from MIL to achieve my 5a day.

:rotfl: I've been hanging off doing my washing because of today. Washing has already been out on the line for over an hour :)

Minimised all the weeds and a couple of plants that had died to the garden bin. I plan to cut the grass after work. I've planted herbs in the yoghurt pots I've been saving so fingers crossed they grow.

Minimised some books and DVDs to a friend. Trying to encourage OH to get rid of some DVDs but it's a work in progress ;)

Yummy beef noodles for tea last night using up the last of the roast beef from Sunday. Also made scones to use up the rest of some coconut milk.

Currently heading to work where I will hopefully minimise my giant to-do list :D, hope everyone has a good day.

Spent most of yesterday in the garden. Three loads of washing hung out ( I have a covered area at the bottom of the garden) Raspberries, blackberries, loganberries and gooseberries all pruned as they have finished fruiting. Prunings all cleared away ready for the green bin collection tomorrow. Last night's tea was a tuna salad from storecupboad and fridge. Tomatoes and cucumber from greenhouse, for a change we had a pudding - a slice of HM bread pudding from freezer!
Need to do a 'big shop' this week as the list is getting longer. Will try to eke out until Friday.
Today will be cleaning upstairs & various small jobs.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Making do - using an already reused several times padded envelope to send some T shirts down for those grandsons of mine.

Minimising - using up salad bits in the fridge with some home grown jacket potatoes for lunch today.

Mending - a seam on my winter gloves had popped in the wash so that is now sewn up and they'll go for another year.

This weeks make do .. I washed one of the cushion covers from the camping car. It shrank a little bit which meant I couldnt get the pad back in but nil desperandum the cushion had proved a little big anyway so I cut the pad smaller .
Mending was replacing the zip puller as it snapped (I think someone trod on it).
With the foam cut off from the cushion pad, I made 2 small compressible pillows following a tutorial on instructables. Then I covered them with fleece from a pair of pyjamas that had kindly been bought for me at xmas (they look lovely but the seams were uncomfortable).
My son is still minimizing his bedroom contents so I will count that as the third M

Our blackberries are only just ripening on our allotment in Blackpool, and our autumn rasps are just coming into production.

  • Blackberries in full swing in NW. Already got a couple of small punnets in the freezer. Its a case of getting to pick them before the rain and the flies get them.

Lyne P your are so right in the washing I too will wait for a decent drying day to do the wash,I don't own a TD and have never wanted one, quite happy with free fresh air and a blowy day.

As I live alone I have cut back to doing two 30 minute washes a week instead of one 1h30m one :)

Not a big saving but as I don't go down the mines or road mending my clothes are only lightly soiled anyway

Making do with what I have in the fridge and freezer this week and NSD at all for me. Soon be away on holiday so no point in stocking up on stuff. My freezer could probably feed the street at the moment :)

Well done on the weight loss LyneP little bit at a time and it will stay off better, and standing firm on the supermarket :) I managed to only spend just over £48.00 odd in July which I was more than pleased with and have a good bit in the fridge to use up this week as well.

Minimised some more books to the CS, as I read them they go into a box on the landing and get dropped off when ever I go anywhere near one .

No mending at the moment ,although I am back knitting some more poppies for the local arts centre for their exhibition at the Royal Engineers museum in October
