Made do with DH cooking tea! Oh, that's mean of me, he tries hard but it always involves txting or ringing me several times for instructions and then waiting for me to get home before he starts :rotfl:

Mended a radio! Ok, I exaggerate, I improvised 2 new feet to replace the 2 missing :)

Took a bag of clothes to CS to minimise Stuff in our house. Also recycled too much plastic and some card. Forgot to take xmas cards to s/m, will do it next time I'm in town:)

Vodkawitch, so sorry, that must be very hard to bear. Please look after yourself and take things gently.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Vodkawitch - so sorry to hear about your daughter, sending hugs.

Sorry I haven't been on for a couple of days, managed to lose my phone on Saturday so have been minimising my bank account :(

I sorted out the kitchen stuff and took a car load of stuff to the cs, also had various bags of clothes to go. Still have a lot of boxes to sort out in the flat but at least the kitchen is now sorted.

Tea tonight was chicken nachos using leftover dips and chicken from our fajitas on Saturday. There's still some dips leftover so will use the guacamole in a wrap tomorrow for lunch and pop the rest of the salsa into the spag bol for tea.

  • Hi all,

I hope some one on here can help!

I put my coffee pot (shiny silver hourglass shape one that goes on the hob) in our new (to us) dishwasher.....it's not so nice and shiny any more! :(

Is there a way of restoring it??
    TIA

P.s - not a newbie, been here for years under Vala mal Doran but can't for the life of me get any password reset to work so had to join again! :p

Vodkawitch, so very sorry for your loss.
Coffeebean - sorry I can't be of any help, I did a similar thing with a teapot a long time ago, unfortunately it never shone again!
I have been making do with the food stocks and using up frozen veg - I can't be the only one who feeds the freezer and forgets to shop from it!!
Mended 2 more dog toys - I'm sure our canine friend thinks it's a game and I enjoy sewing them
Started a new CS box ready to drop off when I pass, so a bit more minimising done there!
  • No mending in my house yesterday but at DDs had to mend DGS Henry's trousers as he had a small hole in the knee, as he is a strapping 5'11" at 15 God know how he did it but good old Gran came to the rescue for him.My DD just doesn't sew, knit or is in the least bit interested in doing it so running repairs come to me .

Trouble is I have to take them home ,fix them then return them, as she doesn't even have a sewing box or thread I have asked her if she wants one and her answer is why would I need one when you do it so beautifully :):):) can't fault her reasoning bless her she has other talents though .
  • So sorry to hear of your loss Vodkawitch.

Coffee bean something from here might help http://www.finishing.com/410/66.shtml I did something similar with a pan some time ago.

This MMMing is much harder than it looks. I followed the thread last year and really thought I was onto it. Actually stating what I have done is making me realise that I have a long way to go.
Just minimised an extra box of recycling as its collection day today. So that is a house removal box gone as well as the contents.
Going to the bank to minimise some financial stuff later.
Dinner will be making do with random stuff from the freezer.

No, you're not, but i am having to 'shop' from it this week as OH has been painting the kitchen and the easiest thing is to have leftovers from the freezer 'pinged' in the microwave.

Tonight DS and i are 'making do' with a frozen, plated up roast beef dinner left over from NYE. it's the kind of making do i can put up with..

The kitchen clearance has surprisingly not resulted in too much minimising. After spending pretty much the last two years doing Konmarie, there isn't much that's superfluous - except freezer stocks :p

vodkawitch1 – big hugs and take it easy.

Another taker here for osbornbiscuit’s tip about hangers turned the wrong way around – what a great idea!

    Minimise
Wool stash – have finished knitting back of sweater for DGS1, now on the front. And have pulled out a half-finished cardi that I know I won’t complete so WIP pile minimised but wool stash increased. No more buying yarn until it’s all used up (whoops, was that a pig flying past the window?).

Stationary box (sounds posh, it’s really just a shoe box) – sorted out contents and ditched dried-up felt tip pens, biros etc. Really don’t need more envelopes either as I re-use those that come with junk mail - just stick a label over the self-addressed bit (you do need a postage stamp though) – I can’t remember the last time I had to buy any.

Magazine subscriptions – I had three (two knitting and one cross-stitch) but have cancelled two of them. Have also changed to a cheaper TV guide. Estimated savings: approx £90 pa.

    Make do
Food stocks - apart from milk I haven’t bought any groceries so far this year. Sunday dinner was beef in gravy from freezer (meant to be lamb but I got out the wrong container – note to self: label things!); Monday was left-over gammon from New Year (went into a pan with mushrooms, red peppers, a lonely slice of corned beef, oregano and a carton of passata, served with pasta); tonight is cheese & mushroom quiche, hm oven-baked potato wedges and braised red cabbage.

    Mend
A blouse (not really broken, just needed altering), bought last year and only worn twice. Lovely material, colour, pattern, right size and fits, so why? It just didn’t feel comfortable IYSWIM. Sleeves gathered into a band that comes to middle of upper arm and open-ended tucks (two front, two back) in waist area to give it a fitted look. Don’t need that, much prefer that it “glides” over the bumpy bits. So bands and tucks unpicked this morning and will hand-sew a hem around sleeves tonight. It fits much better now and I can see me wearing it more often once the weather warms up.

You’re right pandemonium, MMMing is harder than it looks and posting here really does keep you focused on the job in hand.

    Have a good week everyone.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.
  • Managed to sort out china cupboard. I live on my own with my son who now spends more time at his girlfriends and I am guessing is going to move in. So if that is the case can someone tell me why I have a white square dinner service 6 plates etc (bought from a charity shop) a part Denby dinner service and a white dinner service that only came out at Christmas and Easter. Freegled the square dinner service so that has gone. I did go through a phase of buying pretty side plates from car boot sales and charity shops. These have now been ebayed apart from a few. Oh and also minimised mugs to charity shop.
Have finished off three more preemies gowns and hats. Actually remembered to buy ribbon from the market.
Am sat with a hot water bottle under my hip to try to 'mend ' the arthritis. Does that count?
Not looking forward to the change in the weather. I like snow but it turns to ice so quickly and I can do a very good impression on bambi on ice.
Hope you are all well and warm
