  • Thanks Deleted_User! Happy new year everyone!

Did my count and I'm starting out with 142 toiletry products that I want to reduce drastically.

    Initial PP list:

    [STRIKE]John Masters shower gel[/STRIKE]
    Klorane blond shampoo
    Klorane blonde conditioner
    REN flash facial
    [STRIKE]Trilogy cleanser[/STRIKE]
    Trilogy night cream
    [STRIKE]Trilogy day cream[/STRIKE]
    Sjal toner
    Keihls grapefruit hand cream
    Burts Bees pomegranate lip balm
    Dr organic eye roller ball

January progress mixed. Four UU and three INs.

Out was three from pp list and one shower oil. Ins were three shower gels.

    Onwards and downwards!

  • Evening all

Haven't read much of this months thread as internet has been a little intermittent since moved so hoping it's now sorted.

Didn't declare a PP due to above problems but have been trying to work through things. Had a count up of all my items (think I found everything) and whilst not much compared to some of you found I had 102 not including makeup. This is so much more than I thought I had so I will plan better and start using up some of the lovely things I have.

Have a couple of days leave later this week so will count up my make up items and then I will have a total of everything I own (hopefully).

    UUs
Nivea invisible anti persp spray 150ml won this in a raffle and wmb but much prefer my gilette gel
Elizabeth Arden cleansing oil 10ml wnb was okay but not worth the price
Insette extra hold hairspray 75ml won this in a raffle and wmb as did a good job and worked like it should
Boots sensitive cleansing wash 150ml wnba as found this quite drying on my face
Clarins one step facial cleanser 200ml wnba as didn't like how this felt on my skin and it didn't seem to cleanse very well
Jean Paul Gaultier ultra male edt sample wnb as not keen on the scent.

    GMAT
Lost my way for far too long but now back on board to lead a more simplistic lifestyle

    Mar PP - UU 24 (£279.46), TA 2 (£ 13.99) IN 12 (£89.81)

One very small UU - Heathcote and Ivory Blushing Rose Shower Gel. This was an Amazon review item, in conjunction with the matching body lotion. Couldn't differentiate this from a cheapo shower gel at all, clear gel, vaguely floral scent, lathered well, skin wasn't left dry.
WIB? No, it's a bit of style over substance - this was a gift set sent to review about last September or so, I think. Quite expensive for what it is.

NBI of a Burts Bees Baby Bee Cream to Powder. Got this for my feet, not particularly impressed with it as a barrier cream for babies and said so in my review.

    Make up NBI's

Maybelline Fit Me Matte Poreless Foundation
Like this even if it's not quite my skin type, more suitable for combination skins.

Maybelline Push Up Angel Mascara Very Black
This has a very similar brush and therefore quite similar effects to the mascara below, which is three times the price. Really liked it.

    puer Triple Threat Mascara
Lovely but quite a small amount of mascara, not economical and outside my normal budget. If I hadn't had the Maybelline to review I might have been more tempted to have bought it.

    puer Hydrafluid Water Serum Foundation
Quite possibly the runniest foundation ever made, but amazingly it works well. Gorgeous packaging. Sadly can't afford to make this a regular buy but it's nice to have.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Powder Light Honey
A lot to recommend it, liked the clever packaging, the ventilated sponge compartment and the texture. Probably best suited to younger skins than mine, tbh.

Cut open a hand cream that has been used as foot cream for ages, very industrial looking tube, so will be pleased to see it go as it looked a bit out of place in the storage drawers, and more suited to a garage washroom. Can't remember the name of it, it was another Amazon NBI.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    My scores for the month:

    UUs - 30
    INs - 30
    TAs - 4

I'm going to try not to buy too much next month. I'll have a few INs at the beginning, I'm waiting for some more shampoo to arrive, and a few skincare items. But I think that will be all.
  • 1 UU, OST Vitamin C serum. HG, have started using the remaining one in my stash.

I really don't think I will have any more UUs this month but very pleased with how I have done. I know I splurged in the sales but that was all before 1 January and since then I've only bought essentials. I have paid off all the sale items too so feel I have a clean slate.

Want to keep trying UU one product per day of the month ie 28 prodcuts as I felt this made me concentrate on the sample sachets that have accumulated in January.

See you all on next month's thread.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

    A couple of late UUs:
    - Rodial dragon's blood hyaluronic tonic. WMBA - sprayed on really nicely, and sank in really well. Not sure if there were major benefits from it though, but would like to try it again in summer to see if it made any difference.
    - mini can of batiste dry shampoo. WDBA - I have a full size can in use in the cupboard, but love having mini ones when travelling. I'll pick up one at the airport next time I'm flying.

And a few final Ins, from an Elemis offer :o
    Bought:
Treasures of the Sea Gift Set (reduced to £47.60) inc.
    - Pro-Collagen Marine Cream 30ml
    - Pro-Collagen Advanced Eye Treatment 15ml
    - Pro-Collagen Marine Mask 15ml
and came with the following free samples:
    - Travel Dynamic Resurfacing Serum 10ml
    - Travel Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser 30ml Tube
    - Travel Dynamic Resurfacing Gel Mask 15ml
    - and 2 sachets hand cream

I didn't need any of it, as I have quite a bit of similar stuff already, but it will definitely all be used at some point, and so was really great value to get it all on that offer (which is still on ;) )

I finished January on 21 uu/sold/ga and 11 ins with a spend of £72.89. Quite a high spend month for me now (not for the old me though) and that was down to the Glamglow & Versace gift sets.

  • Hope you're feeling better Houseplant! I think we can all relate to our mood affecting our spending but it seems like you kept things under control!

Well done on meeting your target Valm!

Couple of impulse-buy ins but they were only £1 each:
    16. Primark White Lily and Patchouli candle
    17. Primark Amber Wood and Rose candle

    And one last UU:
DW Home Cedarwood Musk candle. WDBA. I loved this! It was absolutely beautiful. It was a TK Maxx find though so I don't know how likely it is I'll be able to buy again :(

    Totals for January are:
    IN 17
    UU 22
    GA 2
    TA 0
    Sold 24

I started the month on 490 and am now on 459 so I'm 31 down! Pretty pleased with that! See you all in February! :)
  • UU: L'eau d'Issey EDT, 100ml - this was a gift in 2008. Nice stuff but pleased to see the back of it. Perfume takes me forever to use up.

January was uu: 9, In: 9.

    See you in February!
