Well, a kind of amazing thing happened and my ex hubby has bought me a turntable for Christmas, and i am chuffed to bits at the thought behind it, however, the speakers are seven bells of crap!!
'fraid i'm hopeless at electronics or anything gadgety, but ive been looking at these on Amazon, together with the rca adapter cable that you can buy as a bundle, which seems to have some good reviews, but the question is, - will it fit? and will it work? im going boss eyed with reading about inputs and outputs....
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Z333-Multimedia-Speakers-Black/dp/B00YR92VMA/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
Sorry its such a dumb question! Is there anything else that would be suitable at a better price?
Thanks for any advice xx

Sorry, but there is no way that you could connect external speakers to the Cruiser, without partially disassembling the deck and using the internal speaker connections. Even if that worked, the amplifier, tone arm and cartridge/needle are so basic that there would be little or no improvement.
At the risk of creating (ex-marital) discord, I have to inform you that your ex has bought you something that can never give you the sound you want. Check out the review for the Cruiser: -

Then check out the deck in the second Link: -

That one will give you the sound you want from a vinyl player. Is there any way you can return the Cruiser and use the money to buy a good deck? Sorry to bring bad news.
EDIT: forgot that you will need a pair of POWERED speakers, the speakers you list would need an amplifier. These look like the best to buy:

I have to say that you are on much better terms with your ex, than I am with mine. Even at the distance of almost 30 years! She once sent me the foulest birthday & Christmas cards imaginable and would probably return any gift from me, in pieces.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Dear gentlepurr,
I have agonised a bit about responding but then think, you have asked the question so you deserve a response. If you do not like the bad news please do not read on!
The two most critical hits of any sound system are the transponders - the bits that turn the sound to electrical signals and the bits that turn the electrical signal to sound. In your case the turntable and your speakers. It is these two elements that deserve most criticality when going for good quality.
Logitech speakers usually are good budget ones, not bad at that price too. They should improve the sound compared to those in the Crowley. There are also good warfdales on the market for a similar price. The best advice however is to go and listen to them to make your choice. Is there a richer sounds near you?
The output from the turntable phono sockets will probably be fine to feed to most typical self powered speakers.
That is the good news.
Now the bad.
That turntable looks great and is not at all expensive....But...
As you have found out the sound is very poor (it may well improve with external speakers). However the 'transducer bit' the 'stylus bit ' for simplicity is very poor and is too heavy and will damage your records. The more you play the worse the damage. If they are currently in good condition and you value them steer clear. If you just want to improve onvthe system overall then cheap speakers might well do just what you want.

Lol, thank you both for your replies, - i have to say it has taken us 11 years to get to this stage of exmarital harmony, and even when we were married i never had such a thoughtful present as this, so really didnt want to upset him, lol!
Yes, i had read all the Crosley warnings before Christmas as ironically, i bought our son a turntable for Christmas too. I had a coupon for £10 off a Crosley, but despite being frugal decided not to use it, and i steered well clear, then lo and behold, one turned up in my stocking (ooo-err missus!) on Christmas morning and i could hardly say thanks but youve bought me a pile of crap..... and thats what led me to looking for better speakers. He was pleased with himself for knowing what to get me, he had even asked me if he could borrow my car to go and get my pressie...poor buggar, I've said he'll be buying me a ring next... lol, it made him swear....
Anyway, i digress...this doesnt solve my dilema... might suggest we go back to Currys with it, dreadful shop...but the thought was there...
Thanks for your input guys

Sorry, but there is no way that you could connect external speakers to the Cruiser, without partially disassembling the deck and using the internal speaker connections.
The Cruiser appears to have 2 x RCA (phono) sockets on the back for connection to an external amplifier.
The speakers and lead suggested should work. However I suspect that any better speakers might just show up the shortcomings of the Cruiser.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

I think that should read "will definitely show up the shortcomings of the Cruiser".
Most of these low-priced turntables and decks are garbage. Even the more expensive ones that record to almost every media source known. I should know: someone bought me one. I refuse to play my vinyl on it, I am trying to save for something with more real quality. (= expensive of course!)
My problem is that I am of the generation that grew up with the Dansette record player, got serious an invested in some real Audio technology. Then sold it all years later when the audio CD improved, forgetting the hundreds of vinyl records I have, which were only played to record to various media, as it progressed.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Thanks Owain Moneysaver and Robisere, i take on board all your misgivings, i had them myself having watched a youtube vid on why not to buy a Crosley months ago, I'm kind of working on the taking it back option, if i can persuade Currys to let me do so, and i can do it without upsetting the giver....
Robisere i still have an original fidelity player thats the same as the one i had in my teens, that only plays when it wants these days.... and a jvc hi-fi with record deck, that refuses to play the first track of any album.......
Thanks again guysxx
