Paint finish on Wall and ceiling

Hi, a daft question but normally do people match the finish on Wall & ceiling? I am getting dulux diamond matt for hallway/landing walls but just wanted opinions on whether to get same finish for ceiling or go with soft sheen or something similar?

Personally, I only use specialist kitchen/bathroom sheen ceiling paint in those rooms because it's formulated to withstand steam.
If you are going to use the same colour for both the walls and the ceiling, I would use either matt or soft sheen for the walls and matt for the ceiling. Ditto if you are going to paint the ceiling white - it's got to be matt for me.
However, it's personal choice - but bear in mind that I've found that the same colour is slightly different in the different formulations - ie, the sheen/satin is a smidge darker than the matt.0 -
Apart from rooms with high humidity like bathrooms, it has to be contract matt on ceilings for me.0

Doing a ceiling as we speak - No paint, just a smooth polished plaster that will have a subtle semi-gloss finish. Walls will eventually be papered when I find something I like within budget.
Kitchen & bathroom will also get the same treatment, but the walls will also be polished plaster (with a tint of colour).Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
