I actually rang back as I had made a formal complaint but wanted clarifications. They said they had actually reviewed it themselves and realised it was badly worded so they gave me interest free for whole spend thats on the card till march 23rd. Plus they are refunding the interest. It maybe worth another call back to them.?
    Persistence, love it. :T
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

Why would people understand things less at Christmas?

Is it because of the excess alcohol?

    Bah humbug.
  • Glad I wasn't the only one! I was told the offer was really aimed at folk who don't clear their accounts in full. So I did I felt I had been penalised for being a good payer as I too usually pay it off every month. They agreed to refund interest and watch for next month. But could do without worry and time wasted when calling then!
I think it was a cob to get people to spend more in Tescos!
  • I meant to say con!
  • I've also been caught by this! I've just come off the phone to them. They have agreed to refund this month's interest only, but it sounds like I should get back on the phone and see if I can get interest free until the March statement. I now have nearly £700 of Tesco purchases that I was hoping to pay in March. To be honest, the woman I spoke to was not the most helpful. I did persist (and remained polite!). She said that there was no where for me to take this further, but she could put in a feedback form...which would take up to 8 weeks to get a reply.
I thought I was pretty experienced at keeping to terms and conditions! Just another way of them making people fall into the trap and pay interest. So annoying!
On another note, the estimated interest on my statement was ~£30 if I pay the minimum by the payment due date. I paid 84% of the statement balance (4 days before the due date), but was charged £40 interest. Why would this be?

    Additional transactions, normally.
  • I had the interest charge applied too and phoned their customer service number.
I normally pay the card off each month, but took advantage of Tescos offer and under paid by £150 (total Tesco spend last month was £300 on a £2700 bill). On the statement there was £300 0% special offer identified, so I couldn't work out why they'd charged me £48 interest...
I was told by Tesco customer services that they'd had a lot of calls about this.
The way the promotion had been built would only give you 0% on your Tesco spend if your whole bill (yes everything on your credit card that month) had been at Tescos!
How many people use their Tesco credit card only at Tesco? I'm guessing, but I don't think the promotion was built the way it was intended...
There was no argument, the interest charge was refunded.
