Single - Wanted: Course/Activity Breaks - UK - Cheap

Hi
I thought I'd post here to get some links to "value for money" weekend course/activity breaks that I could go on.
I've not had a holiday for 13 years - never been abroad.
And I don't want to go on holiday alone (it would be lonely/not a good experience), nor on a "singles holiday" with a bunch of strangers.
So I thought instead I'd go on short course/activity weekends.
NOTHING SPORTY!!! I'd like to learn new things.
So I am looking for links to places.
There is one place in Northamptonshire, by the way, that I am specifically interested in a link to ... can't remember what it's called (or I'd not need the help finding it). But it does residential weekend courses that are really quite cheap - about £100-150 I think, full board. It's in an old big house in its own grounds.
Apart from that, I am interested in possibly the following sorts of things:
1) Techy/geeky things, including programming (php/MySQL)
2) Making jewellery might be fun (nothing that would require special equipment - things I could then carry on making on my own
3) Crystals, mediumship, similar stuff
4) I would consider doing a walking weekend
Then I run out of ideas.
What I am thinking is: with weekend residential "courses" or activities, people there aren't rushing home to their families - and so will all be in the same place, for the same reason so there'll be a social side to it.
Budget.... needs to be small. So, probably MAX £250 for a weekend/full board.
Location wise, I'd be travelling from South Wales
Any links? Ideas?
Ta!
