Santa kindly dropped off my first dash cam, a Viofo A119 which I'll be installing once the weather improves a bit.
Anyone know which is the best/recommended viewing software (Windows) to view dash cam video files?

What format are the files?
With my dash cam there is a specific viewer that displays the footage and also extracts the GPS metadata to show on a map where the vehicle is at any point, and the total journey.
Edit: Looked at their website and information is very sketchy, it tells you how to extract the files from the device but nothing about their format.0 -
Website says .mp4 for the video files. (http://www.viofo.com/home/30-a119-1080p-60fps-dash-cam.html and click on Technical Specs).
If that's the case any Media Player will play the files. Like VLC for example. The GPS data, according to the quick start guide:Please use “Dashcam Viewer” to playback videos and to visualize yourposition and speed on your computer
Presumably on a CD that comes with it.0 -
As above the files are mp4 format. I was aware that the VLC player can play the files but it wont extract the GPS data. I'll have a look at Dashcam Viewer.TadleyBaggie wrote: »What format are the files?

I have a nextbase and also a cheapo ebay dashcam.
The software for the nextbase allows me to view the files from either - the nextbase files shows the gps data and the cheapo non-gps one just the video.
It might be worth a go as the format could be the same

Hope this helps0 -
