Missing lap top

On the 26th November we ordered 2 laptops for my husband and the person who works with him. My husband needs a back up and the other one was a replacement for one that had 'died'. They were different laptops for different purposes. Order on the well known worldwide company's website.
It said to allow up to 2 weeks for delivery.
First lap top arrived within 7 days (my husbands). After another few days my husband tracked the second.. it had followed the same route as the other but once it reached the depot the trail then stopped. He notified our 'Business Manager' who was clearly based over seas. He promised to look into it. A week later he confirmed it was 'lost' so he would order another .. we explained it was not very urgent. He assured us he would get it expedited .. and said it would reach us last week. Last week he then said it would be shipped on 24th (from China!!). All this was me continually chasing them. I emailed the UK CEO and I am now dealing with someone else in the same country as previous man (not UK) who is also patronising ...! They will offer us £60 compensation if we wait for the laptop to arrive .... maybe late next week but nothing if we now cancel .... the employee has been trying to work this week but can't do the work he needs too due to this complete farce....! I have today purchased a laptop from a well known retailer as we can't wait any longer. Is it wrong to expect some thing from original company (who have not even apologised!!!) Thanks

You told them it was not very urgent, so why are you continually chasing them?

Why can the employee not use your husband's back up laptop?

    Where have you been patronised?

You don't make much sense. If you want to cancel the orders then do so, but they're not obliged to give you anything.

You make reference to a business manager and first refer to the other person as someone your husband works with then as "the employee"....it sounds awfully like the purchase was made as a business/for business purposes and not as a consumer/for personal use.

Unfortunately consumer rights only apply to consumers and you will most likely find that their T&C's exclude business losses.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
  • Apologies I typed 'not' urgent by accident.
Whether or not we are covered by consumer law their entire Customer Service is severely lacking. We have not so much lost money but time which can't be replaced. Their complete lack of understanding (Despite on of their Customer Service people continually telling me they do understand) just adds to the frustration. It would appear this Global Company no longer have any staff within the UK in which we could have spoken too.

Couldn't you have just "purchased a laptop from a well known retailer as we can't wait any longer." in the first place, if you DID in fact need the laptop urgently? :)

Businesses these days! Can't seem to get the staff!! :rotfl:
  • My husband has always used this company and bought direct... we were told last week it would be with us by 23rd .....If I had known this was not true then yes I would have cancelled and bought one locally.
  • So it was coming upto christmas one of the busiest times for every company imaginable and you order laptops from china! so whats the name of this global company, D*LL by any chance?
