Tension shower rod

Options
Bought one of those from Argos, fed up with hubby splashing when having a shower. It's those plastic one that extend and there is no need for screws. Does not trust hubby drilling on the wall. Am wondering whether anybody on this forum is using one and how sturdy it is. I mean is there any chance of it coming down since there are no scres fixed on tiled walls. Also I am having a problem with shower curtains, the rings are oval shapes, and it does not glide easily on the thicker part of the rod. Any idea how I could resolve this or where I could get bigger rings preferrably round ones? Thanks

We are using one...I think it was from Argos actually. Hasn't shifted once! Even when I changed the shower curtain and nearly broke my neck changing the rings! The oval rings we got with our shower curtain fit the pole ok, so not sure if its the same one as yours. Our shower curtain was only a cheapie from Tescos (under £5), but the rings are oval. We used to use the tension rod net curtain rails in our old house too. Brilliant invention!!

I inherited one when I moved in my current house been there nearly six years, caught it once and dislodged it, but easy to put back and no other problems. I was surprised myself at how well it stayed in place. Mine is a round one so no problems with curtain rings.

Thanks, the one I bought from Argos is white at £4.99. The curtain rings are OK where the rod have been expanded as it is slimmer & they move easily, they are pear shaped, it's only when it gets to the thicker part, then you have to struggle a bit to get them to move. I could just see the rod coming down, also since they are stuck to the tiled wall, I was a bit concerned in case it slides down. You have both re-assured me that it is quite secure. Bought the shower curtain at £9.99 at Argos. I will go to my local Wilkinson and see whether I could get the round hooks. Thanks for your help and giving me the links to the website.

The answer is to take down the rod and put it back up the other way round.
ie so the rings slide from the thick part to the thin part.....if you see what I mean !!!!
Thats what I have done with mine.
    P.S.
My rail has never come down on its own ever

I use the Argos one, bought it to put up in my house two years ago and it has never fallen down. On mine I have both a fairly lightweight outer curtain and a waterproof inner curtain. I can even hang lightweight items of washing over it when the curtain's pulled back and it still stays up.

We had one of those in our old flat. It did come down once when i tripped over and grabbed onto the shower curtain for something to hold onto to get my balance back but other than that was ok. Ours was a chrome one from argos - the chrome went a bit rusty after a while but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. We also used to hang wet bath towel over it so it will take a fair weight.
