Stopping chimney hot air loss?
perc
Help we have moved into a house with a chimney in the lounge and it seems very cold in there where we are losing a lot of heat up the chimney. We have tried a chimney balloon but these do not work at all seemingly.
We are going to fit a chimney hat to stop dirt coming down but what can we do to stop the heat loss?
Thanks in advance

LMAO! It's a brand name for the yellow itchy insulation stuff used between loft joists and in slab form in cavity walls. I think it was suggested because it will squeeze/mould to fit any size hole and could be pulled out if required at a later date. Also it has some insulation properties. It is not a complete seal so it will allow some breathing. You should not totally block without putting in an air vent otherwise it may get damp.Do you have a link to this at all? Many thanks
