Shopping about after a claim

We are amidst the annual 'oh poo, we've lost control' panic so giving all of our outgoings the once over.

We moved house in 2015 and then earlier this year we were burglaled. We claimed for a new pushbike (£1000) iPad and iPhone so just under 2k in total.

Is it worth shopping about for better deals or is there a set time where we ought to stay out with our current insurer?

Always worth shopping around to check whether your current insurer is competitive.
  • Were you happy with the insurer when they handled your claim? Fundamentally that's what you pay insurance for.

Bear in mind you tend to get what you pay for, use things like trustpilot and MSE to look at reviews about insurers.

If you were happy with your current provider why not shop around and try and negotiate with your insurer rather than move.
  • Yes, we were absolutely blown away by the insurer actually, they were fabulous.

I shall give them a call and see what I can do :)

Unfortunately you may not find other Insurers as efficient / helpful.

Which Insurer were you with as it's nice to know which Insurer is doing their job properly in addition they might be part of a group which means we may be able to recommend other Insurers who are part of the same group. So in theory you would get a similar claims service
  • Our home insurance is with Halifax.
