Using Quicken

Quicken 2000 has been my favorite accounts software since 2000 but modern copies seem to have use restricted to USA residents. I wonder if anyone out there is still using Quicken and can tell me 1) Which is the last version that could be run in the UK and 2) If that can run on Windows 10. My old computer died recently and I've had to replace it with a more modern one that is running Windows 10.

I found this link, which was encouraging. I don't use Quicken, preferring MS Money and have been gritting my teeth and crossing my fingers every time I have upgraded the OS. I am not going to W10 in case MS Money doesn't run (various reports say it does and some say it doesn't!).0

MS Money or Intuit would be my suggestions
MS Money does work in Win 10 without issues.0 -
I use Q2015 US version. If you are not bothered about downloading account transactions and just want a manual entry register, it is very good IMO. I have been using Quicken since the mid 90's.
You need to enable multicurrency support in the preferences and set default currency to Pounds Sterling before creating any accounts, or any accounts you create will be stuck in USD no matter what you change the default currency to later.
I switched from Q2004XG (UK version) to Q2013, which was not exactly painless, but well worth it. The conversion involved importing the UK data into MS Money and then importing the resulting file into US Quicken. Some accounts did not import smoothly, mostly investment accounts ISTR, and needed a fair bit of manual tweaking. I found running XG in a VM alongside the new version assisted when comparing transactions in the old and new data files.
Search for MS Money sunset version if you go down that route, which is/was freely available. If you intend to start a new file though, that won't be a problem.
I would steer clear of Q2017 for now. Although it has had some good reviews, it is the first version to have been converted to the new (aka washed out pastel colours and low contrast) Windows look and feel, and there are some teething problems that need sorting out. You can still pick up Q2016 quite cheaply on Amazon.com0 -

What Intuit software are you referring to, given that Quicken (at least 2000 vintage version) is by Inuit?
I switched from Quicken to Money when there was no UK version of Quicken available, in some ways it was a better product but Money has served me well for the last 10 years or so (and you can import QIF files into it so no historic data will be lost).0 -
quicken 2000 works fine on Windows 10. The only issue I have is the screen does not show the register correctly when it first runs, you need to slightly resize the quicken application window, after which everything works fine.0

Thanks, I hadn't come across it but it looks like you're right. The issue may be using it for UK banking, a swift glance at it seems to suggest that it's US focused.0 -
I have had two W10 Pcs and Microsoft Money worked seamlessly on the first one but doesn't work on the second.
I miss it and have cobbled together my own spreadsheet but hate it.
After 12 years of MM, I am yet to find a viable alternative that's either free or as simple to use. Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0
