Monument card

Options
I have found some old paperwork for a Monument card. At the bottom of the letter it says A trading name of Barclays.

Do I need to contact monument or Barclays regarding claiming the PPI back?

Thx

  • You contact whoever sold you the PPI. If you have a valid complaint, of course.
  • Thx,

The complaint is valid as I never realised PPI was voluntary back then like a lot of people. Will try Barclays as it was part of them back then.

Not "realising" it was voluntary is not the same as being told it was compulsory when it wasn't. What you describe is not a mis-sale.

    How long ago was this?

If that is the only complaint you have you won't get anywhere, that just means you didn't read the paperwork. You'd be hoping to get lucky on an auto-pay. Do you even have any statements proving you paid it? How long ago was the card closed?

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

How old is old? Barclays ran Monument between 2002 and 2007.

Monument was sold to CompuCredit/Raphael's Bank.

This old thread has an address for PPI claims
