Home Energy Capped Feb 2018 (Fixed)

Hi

Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't point out to my dad he should be on the British Gas Home Energy Capped Feb 2018 (Fixed) rather than their standard tariff. Same price and capped but will reflect any price decreases. Am I missing something?

Many thanks

If my kids wanted to switch me to a tariff that would cost me £267 per year more than I am paying at the moment (£663) then I might take them out of my will. This offer costs more than BG's standard variable tariff. All fixed tariffs are capped.

Surely you can get a tariff a LOT cheaper than the suppliers standard tariff for him instead?
  • I did a quote on their site and this tariff costs the same as the standard tariff that's why I was going to suggest switching. I would suggest a better deal elsewhere but he won't leave BG.

If your father is happy paying so much to BG then so be it. As an older person myself, I fail to understand why seniors are happy to pay £00s more to a supplier than they need to.

You could offer to switch to a supplier that offers a smart meter, and run the account online for him.

  • I had thought of this but there seems to be confusion over smart meters at present. Early adopters seem to be having problems when switching.
    Thanks for the suggestion.
