The Merry Cobblers watch repair shop damaged my watch

After Christmas I was excited to get the bracelet of my brand new Micheal Kors watch fitted to my wrist. I took my watch to ‘The Merry Cobblers’ to have a few links taken out of the bracelet – MISTAKE! The Merry Cobbler has completely damaged my watch, beyond repair. After removing links from my watch I put it on to find it did not fit, the bracelet was damaged and there was a large scratch down one side of the watch. I did not want to take my watch back to the Merry Cobblers – so went to a professional jewellers, they examined the watch and confirmed it was damaged beyond repair. The Merry Cobblers DO NOT know what they are doing – now my expensive watch is broken and the bracelet cannot be repaired by another jeweller. They deny the damage to the watch and I dont know what to do?????????

Did you send it off to them or drop it off/pick it up from a stores premises? When did you get the watch back and when did you inform them of the damage/that it still didnt fit?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

You took a watch to a cobbler to have work done on it?
Don't cobblers deal with hammer and nails?0 -
Let me get this right...

The Merry Cobbler are very similar to Timpsons.
Both businesses started out selling shoes and doing shoe repairs and have since moved on so that they now do engraving, key cutting and the fitting and adjustment of watch straps.0 -
Sorry but if you had an expensive watch why did you take it to this sort of outlet?
I took my next watch to timpson to get the battery replaced - if they mucked it up (which they didn't ) then I wouldn't have worried0 -
Did you not notice damage on collection?0

What makes it beyond repair?
Why didn't you try it in and inspect when you picked it up.
Not sure what your next step is if they deny they damaged it0 -
Have you spoken to them yet? That's the obvious first step.
Do that and come back with what they say.0 -

Well its not like its a good quality watch and tbh, as far as watches go, michael kors is still on the cheaper end. It just seems expensive because (imo) its overpriced tat and its the brand you're paying for.You keep using that word. They are made by fossil an identical fossil watch is half the price of the MK watch, with the only difference being the name on the face0
