Delay Repay on train - got taxi to different station

Options
Bought ticket to travel from A to C today.
Got to platform and my train was cancelled. In fact, all trains for next three hours were cancelled.

In the end, I had to get a taxi to B (which is on mainline). I could use ticket because B is on the way to C.

BUT, it cost me £10 in taxi and it was an hour later.

Thing is for delay repay can I say the delay was three hours - it would have been if I'd stayed at A. Or am I stuck because in effect my delay was less than an hour?

Seems only fair to be able to claim the 3 hours (more of a refund) because it wasnt the train company that got me sorted and it cost me money in taxi.

Just put the claim in as described, the operator know the services were cancelled.

I had a cancelled service, the replacement left at a similar time, but on a different route and we received a full refund.

    I love your moral compass.
Do you think one of the reasons for high fares is ticket evasion and false claims.
    Why not tell the truth.
I hour delay and £10 taxi.

Because the system is so inflexible that is forces you to lie.

The train company will not pay the taxi fare. They will, however, pay out for the cancelled trains.

    Is that a "known"fact"?
If trains are late and connections lost train co will provide taxis at night.
why would this be any different.
I note paulfoel did not post on railforums where he is well known as he probably would not like the answers.

    .

Because the taxis are then known about and booked by the train operating company themselves - not the passenger unless they have been told to by the TOC and their representative.

Just getting in a taxi wont do anyone any favours.

Yes, it is a known fact that if your train is cancelled and you jump in a taxi, the train company will not pay your fare for you.

They do have an obligation to get you home at night if the last train is cancelled, but even then they arrange the taxi or bus for you they don't just pay out money.

I agree some forms are so inflexible they are useless for certain situations.

I disagree. Don't use the form. Send an email, with a photograph of the tickets.

    Agreed

They will pay out if your journey was delayed by the appropriate threshold, typically 30+ mins (or, in the case of GTR, 15+ mins, or in the case of SWT/Grand Central/GWR, 60+mins)

What, you mean like someone who starts a thread and four months later revisits it to thank all the responders?

    It's a joke isn't it?
