Focus C-Max Problems...

We've got a C-Max 1.8 on our fleet and were sick of it being off the road due to this annoying running fault that all C-max's seem to carry...

The Ford agent are next to useless :wall: and we've swapped almost every component off the other C-max 1.8 we have, to no avail.

Runs a bit lumpy, looses power low down the revs, throws its Engine Light on.
Reset and its fine for a few hundred miles.

Anyone got any suggestions...?!

  • Mileage is 46,000...

The only thing left to swap from the other one is the fuel filler neck/tank!!

Ive just got my 53 reg CMax 1.8 petrol back from the garage with a similar ish sounding problem (intermittently, the car seems to falter/hesitate whilst accelerating or driving at constant speed and the engine management light had come on). Ford dealer has now replaced the swirl chamber solenoids which seems to have fixed it. could this be the same problem you have been having?

I have got another problem as well though, a vibration which appears at approx 45-50 mph. Garage traced it to driveshafts, they stripped them down and re-packed the joints which has improved but not solved the problem. Only other option apparently is to replace driveshafts at a cost of £800.

I am a bit annoyed that things keep going wrong and am wondering whether to cut my losses and trade it it.
  • Hmmmm, the vibration could have been wheel imballance though!
    Anyway, thanks for your info.
This one of ours has been running ok for the last 10 days!
