Any alternatives to Fish text? Texting from UK to mobile in Ireland?

Hello

I've been using the Fish text app to text a friend who lives in Ireland. She doesn't have a landline or smartphone so found Fish text good until recently. It sends texts twice and I'm charged twice, however I do get it refunded but I find the customer services very slow to respond! Its getting frustrating again and having same problem and no reply yet from Customer Services!

Is there any other apps to send texts from UK to a mobile in Ireland?

Thanks

sunni

I suspect its more that the person in Ireland is getting high charges for receiving texts.
Longer term a cheap smartphone with Whatsapp or similar might do the job.

Receiving ordinary texts on any mobile network in Ireland is FREE!

As stated before if the Irish contact got a cheap smartphone and use 'Whats App' or 'Viber' its all free..

'Viber' will even work on a tablet

Even from overseas networks? Fair enough. So why then is the OP using 'fish text" ?

The poster is texting out to a friend in Ireland using Fishtext because does not want to pay full price, even though it's only about 1p on contract
Fishtext charges about .02p to send a text thru the internet to an non smart phone

I use Fishtext all the time for texting Ireland and I have no complaints about their service

To sum up texting non UK numbers cost more than UK numbers

    Free to receive

    PS to poster
It sends twice because you are sending it twice
Hit send and leave to check later that it was sent
On a poor network there is no way of knowing it was sent
    But it usually always is!

Fishtext is slow to confirm confirmations

    Trust it sends ok

    Thanks for the enlightenment !

So, a cheap smartphone might be a better deal overall / longer term then, since even the lowest data tariff data would cover Whatsapp or similar since they would use a trivial amount on pure texts.

Some people will not use a smart phone to free receive so fish text just works for International sending

The poster has no confirmation that the text is sent

...... so sends it again incurring a repeat charge
