Really sorry to read your sad news. Kerrywoman, and apologies for the time it has taken me to pass on my condolences. Internet access isn't easy nowadays so I am way behind in this thread. Take care and thoughts are with you.

I popped in here tonight (really late) to see who would like to join me in another year of frugal living? We are just about to complete our 10th frugal living challenge on here and, to date, I haven't really wavered far from the original figures, even allowing for inflation. We've simply adapted diets and lifestyles to suit circumstances while ploughing every available extra penny into turning the lifelong dream into a reality that can be shared by all who can.

Hopefully, I'll get the 2018 challenge up and running and see a few of you join me there. So much has happened over the past year that it has been an absolute rollercoaster ride but suffice to say, I am still at the helm of the good ship Frugaldom and happy to have any frugalers join me on board as we sail through debt freedom. :)

 Here's to every one of you who have stuck it out so far and continue to take care of the pennies, make do & mend, reduce/reuse/recycle and generally attempt to live a sustainable lifestyle. Frugality should be fun so let's make next year THE year of frugal living.

cw18, squirrelgirl, allie23, Frugaldom - Thank you. Finally got the date for the funeral, which is next week. Still trying to sort out the finally bits with the help of my brother and sister.

Still trying to be frugal and trying to get my head around things regarding spending at the moment.

Kerrywoman, it is a very sressful time for all concerned, especially when trying to juggle a tight budget. So many things need to be done, issues addressed, people informed, arrangements made, family and friends attended to throughout the process and all made so much harder by the fact that organising a funeral takes both time and a small fortune in financial terms. The one thing I can say is that with so much to do, things can blur around the edges and cause you to lose focus. My sympathies are with you at this time and you know we are all here for you at the other end, when there will still be plenty of time to take stock, absorb what's happened and pick up the pieces to sart again on the next part of your journey through life.
