Car exhaust is really noisy
Options
Literally happened over night. Started my car and noticed it was a little louder than normal but I thought that was just because it was cold. Then today I started it and it sounds like I have a performance exhaust on my car. Sounded good at first but now it just drones like mad and people look at me as I drive by lol.
I've had a look at the back box and it looks fine. Any idea what this could be? Thanks.

Come on now, if it's that bad it shouldn't be hard to pinpoint.0

I took it to Halfords as they're open today for some reason. Apparently the center section and the muffler have come apart and I need new ones.
I was talking to a mechanic in the waiting room and when another employee started my car, he said it sounded nice like a Maserati lol.0 -
Mid section went on my Vectra, 3 garages tried to sell me a new mid section and back box, I looked at the back myself and determined they were bs'ing me, got the mid section changed and two years later the back box was still fine.
Point being that the original parts last much longer than aftermarket rubbish, don't change anything that isn't actually broken.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

now there is something plainly wrong with that statement
" a mechanic in the waiting room"
why would any mechanic go to halfrauds
halfrauds do not have mechanics , they have untrained fitters
PS: are the new shock absorbers OK?Save a Rachael

About 35 years ago I had a Rover SD1 V8. When the exhaust developed a significant hole it sounded fantastic.:DYou can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
If the two sections have come apart, they don't necessarily need replacing...0
