Sim Free Alba Mobile Phone - Black

Purchased the above phone and put my Lyca sim with credit on it but get msg say emergency call

can any one advise why as the phone is only 2 hours old

It mentions that issue in the FAQ. It says to restart the handset and then select the network manually.

Emergency call only means the phone can find a network (to make 999 calls) but not one that your sim subscribes to.

Are you sure the phone is unlocked to all networks? Lyca use O2 in the UK.

According to the Q&A on the Argos website, the phone is compatible with the Lyca network. As it's SIM free, it must be unlocked.

well it says sim free thus am sure mean not locked to certain network but as we now 4 g on most sim cards but the still selling 2 g phones have contacted the techs support who now want me to take phone back

not sure y need to reboot as its new phone

Have you tried rebooting the phone ? It might work.

thought you could get emergency with no sim inserted ? remove sim and refit

The message you are getting 'emergency calls only', I've heard that some people get that message in certain areas if there is no signal on their network. So it might be a low signal problem.

Does it display a signal bar on your phone?

Have you tried using the phone outdoors?

Thank you for all your responses i have now been able to exchange the phone and the exchange phone is working like clock work
