Accommodation in Gran Canaria

Our usual holiday is touring France / Spain in summer or autumn with UK short breaks the rest of the year.

This year with a lot of holidays left to take before the end of March I've been thinking about adding in another holiday. It would also be good to get some warmth, so we're looking further afield for the first time in years.

There are cheap flights to Gran Canaria, the climate looks fine, but I cannot see any accommodation to enthuse me.

Added later: last two weeks in March 10th - 24th

Anyone got any thoughts or tips? Probably looking at self-catering, reasonably well-served with transport links, not a wild nightlife type area.

Have a look at the Marina Suites in Puerto Rico, they are located in a reasonably quiet area but within easy walking distance of lots of Restaurants and Bars etc. They get very good reviews on Trip Advisor etc.

We've been to bungalows Caribe in Puerto Rico 3 times now. A couple of hundred yards to the beach and restaurants, self catering and a large pool.

Puerto de Mogan appears to be a good spot.
The island has a good bus service, the timetables should be online.
Btw Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are connected by a short ferry.
Late February/ early March is Carnival time in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, if you fancy seeing a street parade.

Puerto de Mogan is my favourite place in Gran Canaria. There is a good selection of apartments, and the ones down on the harbour look really nice. If you fancy a splurge, the Cordial Mogan Hotel is fantastic.

We stayed at the Cordial Morgan Playa in November for our 40th wedding anniversary, and agree it is fantastic. Puerto de Morgan is very attractive, and those apartments around the harbour do look very nice, but no idea what the prices are like.

We intend going back their for some winter warmth next year as well.
