Never thought of that Tiddliwinks!
I had a lovely surprise today. Clearing out a drawer that is seldom visited I found a tube of Strepsils. I hardly ever get colds, (famous last words,) and can't imagine how long it has been there. I opened it to see if the contents had fossilised and to my delight found a roll of extremely tightly rolled notes. I had to dig around with tweezers but finally unrolled £45 in fivers. I don't recall putting them in there, senility is alive and well, but I am chuffed.

I save £2 coins in a pound shop tin as well. Open sometime in November for Christmas last year's total was £320. Seemed to be a shortage of coins throughout the summer! Best year was £450 I find it a very painless way to save.Slightly bitter0

I keep meaning to take it to morries to exchange for vouchers cos its rather full.

I stick pound coins, £2 coins and £5 notes into my terramundi. (Yes, I know, they're not cheap, but a jar sticks around for up to two years so it may as well look nice). Last haul was over £900. I'm hoping to be able to crack the latest jar in the next couple of weeks and will update when I do.
Small change goes into little pots and gets bagged up every couple of months. It racks up faster than you might think.0 -
Hi,
Please remember the £1 coin is changing so they will go out of circulation at some point, so probably best to not save these
Banks will still take them off you for years to come and either change them or pay them into your account. There are still £1 notes knocking around and taken at BanksI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

I once saved all my change in one of those big Crespo olive jars. After about a year I emptied it and there was £98 inside!!
Nowadays I tend to use up my change as best I can by using it for small purchases (milk etc) at the local shop, as they find it helpful to have the right change.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0
