Tokyo and Moscow, how much would 14 days cost in each city?

With various day trips here and there. I understand this is extremely hard to calculate, but on average how much would you say it would cost 28 days in both cities? At first I was thinking Tokyo and New York, or Tokyo and Kiev, but have always wanted to visit Moscow.
Edit: Also, does anyone here suggest me doing less than 14 days in Moscow? Maybe 7 days in Moscow? Was looking into St Petersburg too.

Is this for 1 person travelling alone, or per person for more than 1 travelling? Assuming the former, I'd say if you budget a minimum of £100 a day for Tokyo you would probably be in the right region. You could probably do it for less if you stay in budget accommodation, eat cheaply and don't visit more expensive sights. Equally, you could spend much, much more staying in top hotels and eating in the finest restaurants, so some indication of what level your stay would be at might help.0

Am interested in this thread as I have plans to do a Moscow, Shanghai and onto Tokyo trip in May. I have got Japan booked from Shanghai, have got bullet trains in Japan to see a few more cities though.
First part to Tokyo is a solo trip with Tokyo and other Japanese cities meeting up with others."Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

Yes, this would be solo travel. I am interested in visiting Mt Fuji and a couple other day trips from Tokyo, but my base would be central Tokyo. Never been to the city, but hear it's not as expensive as some big cities. I don't eat a whole lot of food anyway (usually skip breakfast and sometimes eat a small snack at lunch, then a good dinner) so wouldn't be pigging out at restaurants, maybe just sushi or street food, then some kind of small meal in evening. I would look to stay in an apartment via airbnb as find those the best options. I've already been looking and i would probably spend about £400-£500 on accommodation, then buy a travel card for the train for the 2 weeks i'm there, and the other costs would be day trips and food.0

That sounds really great. I would like to visit Kyoto, but it's way too far and wouldn't be worth it because would have to stay in both Tokyo and Kyoto, so maybe I will stay in Kyoto if/when I go back to Japan.0 -
Four or five days in most cities is enough for me, I've been to Moscow and Tokyo and that was probably about right. We spent two weeks in Japan and went down to Kyoto and I'd recommend another base for that length of time, probably cheaper too. We took a sleeper bus one way so saved the time and cost for a night and then got teh Shinkansen back, probably around 3-4 hours at most.
Similarly I'd do st Petersburg as well as Moscow, Russian visas are still tricky from what I understand so you'll need to factor that in and may well have to to book a simple package.0
