For interior walls and ceilings, a matt emulsion finish is often used.
For interior painted woodwork a gloss finish is often used.
What about:
a) the exterior side of a front door,
and,
b) exterior pipework/gutters/fascia boards
Matt, gloss, or other paint finish?

Gloss or satin exterior paint.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

For both a and b, gloss paint specifically manufactured for outdoor use.
Most ranges do them.0 -
But if you have plastic gutters & facia boards, you'll need a paint system (primer & topcoat) designed for plastics. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Not gloss white though, as most due to EU regulation go yellow very quickly - within months. I have tried a few different paints, mostly on internal doors, little direct sunlight and they are all yellow within 6 months.
After reading, people seem have had success with Farrow and Ball, but you should use their undercoat too, even if painting over existing sanded down paint. but the paint is costly.0 -

The 9 year old B&Q one was great, but tried the new one and within 4 months yellow. Tried two different types of Leyland and it went on lovely, and yellowed within 6 months. Dulux took also took about 4 months.
Admittedly I have not painted a door in 1.5 years, but would be weary of gloss white.0 -
The skirting and doors in my hall/landing were done 6 years ago by a decorator and have yellowed slightly, but the skirting and window sills in the bedrooms and lounge were done by me with Dulux pro liquid gloss, and are bright white still. If the paint gets a good amount of light (doesn't need to be direct sunlight) then it will stay white.0
