I have spent some time on the forum and read who to invest with and who may be affiliated to who.
Could I , with respect, ask anyone who has sufficient knowledge to post a list of instituitions affiliated to a main instituition so people may spread their investments around therefore attempting to minimise loss through "spread betting".
I note questions like this have been asked in the past. There seems to have been no satisfactory answer.
Hopefully someone may have the answer. Please do not post with suppositions or " I think that". I have read all these answers before, and while appreciating the effort made, it does not help one iota.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW??????????????????
I will point out I have tried FSA register. A Philadelphia lawyer could not work out the quagmire in there !
Does ANYONE know ?

The FSCS defines
- "Compensation limits are per person (per firm and type of claim)."
- Authorised firm: a company, unincorporated body, partnership or individual permitted to carry out a regulated activity by the FSA. This term includes a mutual (unincorporated) organisation, for example a friendly society.
Then you search on the FSA register to see FIND those AUTHORISED FIRMS at:
http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/firmSearchForm.do
For instance if you search for the name "Birmingham Midshires" you find "Bank of Scotland" is the authorised firm.
Many firms include on their website their FSA registration details anyway - eg using the Birmingham Midshires example : "Birmingham Midshires is a division of Bank of Scotland plc, which is authorised for accepting deposits by the Financial Services Authority. It is entered in the FSA's Register and its Register Number is 169628. Registered in Scotland No. SC327000. Registered Office: The Mound, Edinburgh, EH1 1YZ." 169628 takes you straight to the BoS registry entry on the FSA database.0
