As a money saving website we should check the regular low price so we know it's not worth rushing out to buy.0

The link shows it was £8.99.
The link shows it started off at £8.99 in the summer and has been dropping in price since.
The link shows it was £4.49 before Christmas.
For a cup and 2 biscuits that's still a lot of money.Originally Posted by shortcrust

The main point I was trying to make in all this was that the person who made the original post was trying to help people by posting the deal. The OP was quite accurate with the observation about the pricing but she/he was targeted straight away with comments about the accuracy of the reduction. I find it very sad that people don't simply thank the person for taking the time to make the post but just comment as to whether it is a bargain or not. I see this happening on other sites - I thought this site was better. You can understand why people don't bother submitting deals...
There's no need to be so passive aggressive.
People are merely pointing out facts and helping people save money by not buying things on the pretence they are better value than they actually are.
Did you bother to read the link I posted? You might then understand you are acting as an advertisement channel/ sales person for a company in exchange for a couple of likes.
Bargains are still to be had but a little more discerning analysis would help.Originally Posted by shortcrust

I was let down by Argos' reserve and collect for the first time last week, it's always been really good until now but I made a special trip to get an item only to be told it wasn't there. They offered to order to another store, even further away, then the next day I got a message saying that was cancelled too.
The lady in the store told me it had happened a lot recently as they have changed the way they order in items from other stores, but when I reserved, it told me the item was already there.
Sharing this so others can exercise caution. Luckily I was able to get another suitable gift elsewhere at short notice but it's made me wary of relying on the collection facility from now on.
Does anyone know how you can search out clearance items at a given store ?Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
Terrible faff trying to order a PS4 on Tuesday for my son to collect at branch near him. Twice my trolley was emptied before I could reserve. Then reserve option disappeared. That left me having to actually pay in advance online but twice my credit card was rejected. Phoned the cc people who said it was because it looked like a second transaction was taking place immediately after the first. They gave me a code to authorise the payment but you cannot get a human being on Argos Customer Service line, all the options are automated.
Next attempt - use the phone reserve facility. Fine and dandy till you get to the end and realise you can't actually pay for the thing! Not much use to me as son is 100 miles away. I thought I had cracked it when I found a proper landline number for the store nearest him which was answered by the bouncy cheery Margaret. I explained the difficulties that I had been having and that there should now hopefully be a PS4 reserved for me. She went off to check and there it was BUT I still could not pay for it unless I turned up in person. Argos do not accept payments over the phone. I told her I had an authorisation code from the cc people but no joy. No phone payments taken, ever.
Ended up using phone reservation thingie again for my nearest store as not possible to reserve online and pay with credit card, I got rejected again. Bought it yesterday in person with the self same credit card and drove up to the road to meet him half way and give him the item.0 -
