I think it does matter and I appreciate Sooler and bazzyb for pointing it out. Its not a "bargain" if a 6% saving is masquerading as a 50% saving. Retailers have become adept at this kind of slight of hand.

The main point I was trying to make in all this was that the person who made the original post was trying to help people by posting the deal. The OP was quite accurate with the observation about the pricing but she/he was targeted straight away with comments about the accuracy of the reduction. I find it very sad that people don't simply thank the person for taking the time to make the post but just comment as to whether it is a bargain or not. I see this happening on other sites - I thought this site was better. You can understand why people don't bother submitting deals...

Rather subjective, but I disagree that 49p off in the "big sale" is truly a bargain, hence my original comment on the thread.
