    Hello all,

Thank you Gers for starting the thread, stay safe and warm in the storm!

TA I am very much with you about low key socialising, or not socialising at all. I am a big fan of India Knight and she writes at length about the joy and relief of when you are due out to a social event and your friend calls to cancel!

Lainey I am glad that you had a good Christmas Day with your DM.

Gintot watch this space re. meetup, we are due one soon, late January if I can get my head together to organise it, in SE London.

Woke up twice in the night, first time because DH was shivering and needed more covers, I gave him some paracetamol, then in another hour or so because he had sweated all the fever out and needed a change of clothes.

This morning he feels ok-ish, free of fever, but I am not holding much hope of leaving tomorrow if he is poorly tonight again. I am crossing my fingers and praying with all my heart that I don't get it, at least until I am back home if it has to be.

Much as I regret the considerable loss of money over the seaside hotel, I want to make sure that DH is well before we go anywhere. If he is better and can convalesce in the hotel room I might book a private car to get there, a lady who drives my mum here and there when she needs hospital appts etc, it will be expensive but better than being stuck here and losing lots of money and my sanity. I will see how it goes tomorrow morning.

I am not distraught and I am not happy, got a flat mood of resignation, no joy and no despair. Just flat and low. The only thing that keeps me going is the thought that when I get home I am going to burn through my clutter, do a major Kondo of my life, rearrange all my priorities and lifestyle. I am planning to give up work as soon as DH reaches his 66th birthday in February, when he will claim state pension. It will more than make up for my loss of wages and the deferment lump sum will help too. Not because I don't love the boys, I do, they are very sweet, but I get so tired, and everything points to the fact that life is so short, it has to be enjoyed. Look at that poor George Michael (RIP), 53 and he is gone, poor man.

Ok, time to pour a cup of tea and be glad I have nice tea to drink.

The sun is shining and I might even drag myself under the shower, then go out for a break from nursing DH and biting my tongue with my mother.

Have a good a Boxing Day.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

HH I take it your meat wasn't contaminated?

I'm off to Braemar with small things. It's snowing. Only 24hrs more to survive.

  • Good morning everyone, and it is good here, blue skies and breezes, may not last but lovely for now.

OH is making a hot breakfast, I am still full even though I did not eat that much. Oh well, at least we don't eat like this for the rest of the year.

I hope you all have as pleasant and peaceful day as possible.
JackieO I tried to locate you on FB but it just offered me some else who shares your name ( as it does when friends try to find me, it offers a famous sports person.)
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • No idea, FBO, I cooked a different one, just to be sure.
    Chin up, Titus out.

Wow didn't know I shared with a famous one (only know meself :):):))
I'm the Jackie Walder ,living Gillingham Kent (even though I live in the middle of Rainham :):):)

Just had a lovely ham 'n' egg breakfast at DD's one of our Christmas traditions .lunch will be cold buffet, and tonight we are at my eldest DDs for a big family party around 20 odd of us, lots of party games etc and catching up about the wedding.

DGS Jack has gone off to his part-time job at the local precinct in Hempstead where he works clearing tables in a cafe. He is hoping the chap will keep him on after the Christmas and New Year rush has died down.He want to save up for his driving lessons for next year as he is 17 in February,he only has 18 months to go before Uni and he wants to be driving by then.

We have all had a great couple of days and luckily DD isn't back to work until the New Year so we can unwind a little bit after tonights 'do'

Cupboards seem stuffed with food and nothing need buying for a good while yet :):)
I shan't be back at my house until after New Year soon shopping for me for awhile.
DGD Holly went off to Bluewater this morning for the sales and said the place was only half full I think a lot of folk buy their stuff online now and avoid the pushing and shoving of the shops if they can.

Hope everyone enjoys their Christmas break if they have one ,we will probably go off to herne bay for a walk along the beach at some point this week to work off the excess's :):)

Have a good day chums and hugs for the poorlies and sad amongst us

    JackieO xx

Well, it's a good thing I don't really "do" Christmas - I lost yesterday to the dratted lupus; I suspect the stress of having the plumber here at short notice sent me into a mini-flare.

I've only just caught up with what's happening in the outside world - RIP Rick Parfitt.

Managed to get a WM load of Mr LW's clothes done, so we're pretty much up to scratch there; and I've printed out Sasha's information - daily routine, mealtimes, walkies times etc, ready for her arrival on Wednesday.

Plumber is returning tomorrow to fit the new basin taps (to match the bath) and the new CH thermostat; so I may well hole up in the lounge with the door shut and leave Mr LW to deal with him. ;)
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Evening - what a lazy day I've had. I've done a few easy things, emptying the DW and setting the fire. A neighbour called round and very kindly brought a bag of logs in from the big barn for me so I didn't have to out in the storm. I've got a beef casserole bubbling in the SC as the meat needed to be cooked up, once it has it'll go in the freezer.

Now I'm watching the end of the Harry Potter film and enjoying my first glass of grape juice. Tomorrow the storm is supposed to have lifted so I'll get to things more then.

I hope everyone enjoys their evening. Thought to those who are not well or looking after poorlies.
