Buying a new laptop.

I've had my Dell PC for over 7 years now and it's given me wonderful service.
However, since it has a Windows Vista OS, I'm having to bow to the inevitable and think about replacing it, and purchasing what will be only the second laptop I've had.
I had intended buying another Dell model, but this Lenovo model on sale at Argos seems like great value, retailing at £269.99, with an I3 processor, 8GB RAM and 1TB hard drive.....

What do you think? It looks like real value for money to me, or am I missing something?

Thank you.

It has a low-res screen but expected at this price.

Otherwise I'd say it looked quite good for the money. Edit: I wouldn't use the cd/dvd drive; didn't know these still existed, and 4 hour battery life is poor.

Depending on just what you will be using it for it is IMO a fair price. Lenovo are a good company {I have a couple of their tablets and have not had any problems with them at all}. To me the added bonus of a DVD drive could be handy but with only a 4 hour battery life {with not much loaded on the machine} it MAY be something you need to think about.
If it is only for use indoors battery would not IMO be a drawback but without mains to recharge it,it MAY cause agro for you in the future.
For the price if I was in the market for a laptop I would go for it. :0)

I probably would, too, but have become accustomed to full HD on smaller screen sizes.

IMHO, you really should be getting a laptop with SSD drive, makes everything so much quicker.

That said, Argos are obviously clearing old stock of the Lenovo; at the price it's almost worth getting a 128Mb SSD and swapping it yourself.

    Many thanks for the feedback.
I'm not too concerned about the battery life, in fact not concerned at all really. If I'm out and about I'm happiest with a book if I need to occupy/entertain myself, I don't need technology. I'm retired now, so certainly don't need a laptop for anything other than surfing the web, emails, youtube, buying stuff online, general entertainment really, but no interest in being a "gamer".
This I'll do at home, with the laptop on my lap, plugged into the mains, with wired connection to the ethernet port site (something else that attracted me to it because it has one).
So really, it seems perfect for my needs, especially at the price, and your helpful comments have helped to confirm my intention to buy it. :)
    Thanks again.
