Trackrod end came off hub whilst driving due to garage negligence...

I'd be complaining about the MOT pass. The MOT was done after the steering rack was replaced, so if the locking pin were missing, it should have been spotted, as should the loose nut, they don't just undo and fly off, they have to break the taper and come right off.
That's what i was thinking, but if the same garage who MOTd the car; fixed the steering rack. There is a possibility they just passed it on the assumption the fault was now fixed and not even inspected.0 -
Good luck.
I will be very surprised, if you will get any satisfaction from that garage chain."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

As in the manufacturer forgot to insert the pin to secure the castle nut? Not likely0 -
Yes the trak rod end should not have come off, even if the split pin dropped out the nut should still have held it in place and after that the taper on the connection is normally a pig to split ( this case might be different as the track rod end has been removed recently ) the garage has not fitted it correctly so:
Go back to garage and ask them to repair at their cost.
Ask for a free service or something similar to make up for the trouble/fright/cost of the incident IF YOU WOULD LET THEM TOUCH YOUR CAR AGAIN!
As for anything else, move on and put it down to experiance.0
