Hello guys, I've been looking at quotes for first time insurance for a while now on different cars.
I've managed to get it down to £1130 with a black box using the usual job occupation as a fitter.
But my job is quite hard to describe as I build catering vehicles from scratch and fully equip them with electricity, LPG Gas, plumbing, metal boxes, metal worktops etc.. my point is everyday I am doing something else
As I was looking through the forums on tips I saw that changing job occupation could reduce the cost, which it did as I changed it to metal engineer and it dropped to £1120 WITHOUT a black box which would be perfect!
I don't entirely know what an metal engineer would do but I do work mainly with metal as our worktops are metal(stainless steel), bolts nuts etc
So my question is do you guys think this is going the way of fraud? As I'm not lying as I do work with metal, but then again could I class myself as a plumber? Electrician? I had a discussion with management and we decided to class me as a fitte,r that's why I've gone with that.
Also, when I did my apprenticeship a few years ago, it was under welding and fabrication but even the college struggled to put me into the right course
Cheers guys

The quote without black box was from Hastings essential and with black box was from more than > smart wheels0

Personally I can't grumble too much about Hastings. I had a policy with them, claimed under it, and whilst it was slow (and I had to complain) we got there in the end.
However, look on this forum and google "Hastings car insurance reviews" for the collective's opinion.0

Beware choosing an occupation which is not 100% accurate....the insurance company will use any slight doubt to wriggle out of paying should you have a future claim.:A Goddess :A0

Working with metal is not quite the same as being an engineer though.
How much do you know about the properties of the metal your working with and their composition etc?
Your job sounds like a fitter to me.Unless you make all the items that you fit later on.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

the nearest I can get on occupation - as someone who buys run down houses and renovates them - is Property developer.
The car insurance comparison sites have a drop down box that auto completes suggestions when you type in the first few letters.
 I typed P R O for property and it suggested ....
Proprietor, Circus.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0
