DRL - safety?

The law needs to be changed to limit the brightness of these DRLs to below that of a sidelightbulb.

Daytime running lights are bright so that they are highly visible during the hours of daylight. If they produced less light than a car's side light, they would be completely pointless.

Thankfully not everyone thinks the same way as you do.
So please enlighten us, then. What do you perceive as the primary causal factors behind drivers neglecting to switch on their lighting in conditions of poor visibility, as noted by previous posters?

I realise that you've not been here very long, and that it will soon be time for you to give the computer back to mummy and daddy and head back to school, but an understanding of basic English is a pre-requisite for participating in this forum.

For long words that you don't understand (or haven't been taught yet), there are things called "dictionaries" which will explain them to you.

    Here, let me help you:

Apparently they are part of EU legislation.

I just thought they were trying to make cars look fancy.

In my opinion on some 'city' cars they look totally naff, especially the bright LED ones.

Especially the strings of little bulbs used by Audi and Range Rovers - like a set of Christmas lights from Poundland.

Most cockpit lights wont come on unless the main lights are on even with DRLs

Actually that's not correct, I can't remember the last car I had where the cockpit lights only came on when lights were on, certainly my 51 plate Pug 307, 52 plate Nissan Almera Tino, Y plate Audi A4, 06 plate Astra H, 08 plate Vectra C, 13 plate Nissan Qashqai and current car which is is a 61 plate Megane all had/have dash lighting that comes on with ignition regardless of the headlight switch position, out of allm of those the only one with DRLs is the Megane and it seemed to be the case on all modern vehicles I've driven in the last 15 years or so.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world
