:rotfl: Longish version: my uncle and aunt can no longer drive their car due to health problems. They are selling their Kia [name I forgot] hybrid to my parents for a discount, along with chauffeuring duties for my father. My parents are selling their Kia Picanto to us for less than half the secondhand trading price, so €2,500 (GBP 2,100) instead of €6,500 (GBP 5,500). They can't afford to give it to us completely free, but are happy to give a good discount. We will sell my Renault Clio, which I love to drive, and has been very useful, but is a diesel, and I don't drive long distances with it. We use my dh's company car for that.
I feel sooo spoilt! Until I was 36 I only had bicycles and used public transport for longer distances. We only bought a secondhand car when dh got a job in a different city to where we lived; we replaced this car with a new one after about 3 years. Then he made promotion and got a company car with a petrol card. I took the newish car for my commute, and am now saving up for an electric bicycle, as it's only 7km to work, flat roads, with good bicycle lanes. It feels as if we are reaping the harvest of years of diligent attention to work and money. Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
