Buy It Now & silly Best Offers...

....selling something new (that costs £40 in the shop...I checked) for £20...getting offered £10...£11. A tad low, verging on cheeky I felt. Belatedly changed settings to auto-reject offers under £14!

But just wondering, anyone had offers that were ridiculously low?

The rare occasions that I do best offer, I have auto reject set to anything below what I am willing to accept. You still get the occasional person sending you a message with a low offer and why they are doing you a favour by offering that.

I get this all the time. As a poster says just set decline offers. I do that now as I don't want my time wasted on dross.
The thing is the sob stories, which accompany a derisory offer.
I had a brand new in the box Dyson V6 for sale once and the person giving me a sob story could I sell it to her for £50 as it's for a friend who has cancer and all the money she has at the moment.

Honestly, you can't make up some of the stories I hear to try and get a price.

Best offer is an interesting thing. I think some sellers don't realise they have it on or how it works.
If you have something listed at £100 someone may well offer £10, it doesn't mean they won't pay £90. I went with a higher counter, so would counter £95, I'd say more than half the time that ended up with a sale at somewhere between £80 and £95.
I offered £15 on a £20 item that was ignored, so seller lost a sale, I could have paid £20 and it wasn't something I couldn't find elsewhere. I think I ended up buying for about £18.

Actually I disagree. When I get an offer, the buyer just does not want to barter or have any inclination to . That is their offer end of!
A lot of my stuff is brand new and I think people trying to get it dirt cheap to sell on again.
I do send counter offers but they always expire!

Yep, in two ways. Firstly if seller has a BIN with best offer then buyers can make offers and the seller can counter offer, accept or decline the offer made. Alternatively there is an offer facility via messages as well, so if a buyer sends a question about an item the seller can answer that message and send an official offer at the same time.
