Samsung Fridge/Freezer Ice Maker Question

Options
I know this sounds like a silly question perhaps, but the manual doesn't actually state either way.

The ice maker in most Saumsung fridge/freezers these days (I'm those built in the last year all work in the same way) - does it work by manually filling the ice bucket with water, or does it take water from the line in?

The position of ours means it can't have any water as yet, but I wasn't sure about the ice and whether I could just top it up every so often. Our model is similar to RS7667FHCWW (it's the same manual), although I think ours has R577 in the model number.

Thanks

Yes, they are plumbed in, it's not really practical to use the built-in tray manually as it's attached to a little motor that tips the ice out when it's ready, you can't force it manually and there's no reservoir to top-up.

If you're not going to plumb it in I think you're going to have to disable the ice function use normal ice trays.

Hmm, even though the inside has a section for storing water for the ice tray? (says so in the instructions).

You also can't really turn the feature off.

I will use it eventually, but there's no chance of getting any water to where I have it (we'll be getting a new kitchen within a couple of years).

Are you sure you can't turn off the ice maker? I only use ours in the summer so it's turned off all winter.

Can you give a link to the manual, all I can find it dodgy downloads or at least a link to the correct model. The RS7667FHCWW is definitely a fully plumbed in model. I can't find anything for R577, not sure which digits you're substituing, so it's very had to tell what you have.

On the plumbed in versions there is a button on the display to turn off ice.
