Hi folks,
I have ordered a composite Upvc door which is costing me a lot more than the standard door, but just wondering is there any sure way to know that it is a composite door when fitted, does it look or seem a lot heavier than standard Upvc door.
Or will I simply have to take the word of the installer that it is a composite.
Thanks for any info.

My understanding is that you can tell the difference by the Composite door having a wood effect surface and you can feel the slight grains in it whereas UPVC is flat to look at and to the touch

Don't you know what door you've purchased? The manufacturers specs and dimensions will be available on their website.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
It's obvious once you see one.0

Its really obvious. UPVC doors are really floppy and if you grab the top and give it a shake it will be all over the place. A composite door will be much more rigid similar to a wooden door..0

Post a close up picture once it's fitted.
Composites will weigh more than a UPVC so there should be two people lifting it. They often have a wood effect finish.
Also find a model name/number on it when they unpack it and a quick google will tell you all0 -
A composite door looks more like a timber door in that it sits inside the frame like a timber door does and does have a textured surface like wood whereas a upvc door has a panel in the centre and looks like a door within a door . Composite doors are far better stronger and also better insulation
