Opinions on these fitted blinds please?

We've just had these blinds fitted and I think I'd like the company to do something with the way they look.

Basically we have bay windows with 5 windows. My wife and I both didn't like the idea of having 5 blinds up so we asked for 3 blinds, with the middle one covering 3 windows. The guy thought for a while, measured and reckoned it would work. I'm fine with the bottom of the blind overhanging the windowledge as that part's down to simple angles and shapes, but I think they could have fitted the blinds in much better.

There are two rooms with the exact same bay windows here.

The problem, to my eyes, is that the large blind is too wide. If it were cut to a fraction wider than the actual glass window I think the two side blinds would slot right in.

I've asked them to come back out after the Christmas break to have a look and see what they think. Do you think this is reasonable? Is it do-able in the manner I'm suggesting?

I THINK there's enough space to make the central large blind narrower, and the side blinds SHOULD then fit...

And this is the other room, which is a bay with a very slight angle, 3 windows, and looks great

Is the fact I've asked for 3 blinds over 5 windows likely to make my expectations unreasonable?

Any thoughts would be great before I decide if I want to be firm with this company or agree to accept things if he says it's not doable.

Thanks!

I agree with you. The larger blind is slightly too long and the is why the others are now sat forward of it. I would not be happy with that.

    Needs adjustment.

I've no skills whatsoever.... but if I'd borrowed a drill and put my own up like that, then stepped back I'd be thinking "OMG that's !!!!!! isn't it".

    It's clearly wrong.

It does look like the centre blind is to wide, but TBH, putting one big blind in the middle is always going to look crap, I really wouldn't be happy with that overhang in the middle.

    I don't have OCD.

But if I lived there and kept looking at the way those blinds are mounted at the top, it would give me OCD.

    Big fail.

The boss has just came out on his day off and was shocked, "that's a disgrace, I actually can't believe they left it like that"! So he's adjusted the brackets, swapped one of the blinds to the other room and has taken the other one away to cut it down and refitting it this afternoon.

Bang on, can't get the staff these days.

I'd hate the look of 5 little blinds, all down to opinion.
  • Sorry but i cannot understand somebody in the first instance asking for that and then the blind company making them and making the centre one narrower will not alter much .If i wanted blinds in that situation i would of had plantation type blinds or perfect fit which i would of thought the blind company would of suggested

Thanks for the useful input, but you're wrong. They're sorted and look excellent now.

  • I would like to see the 'after' pic as I cannot imagine how the centre blind now looks. Does it cross the centre point of the window like it does appear to in the first set of pics?
