Interesting the direction the Japanese are taking with their focus on petrol engines, a stark contrast to European manufacturers who have focused their efforts on more efficient Diesel engines.
The Mazda3 appears to be the perfect hatchback, simple petrol engine with no worries about turbo, injector or DMF failure. Furthermore, the reviews have all complimented its sharp handling and entertaining drive. The 6 speed gearbox is straight from the Mazda MX5, the MPG on paper looks good and consequently carbon emissions are on the lower side.

Interior is simple and comfortable Sport seats. None so common as the mundane Focus or the pretentious Golf. Mazda reliability is also generally excellent0

So how long have you worked for a Mazda dealership?0

I don't think the Mazda petrol engines are anything special and it's not true they've been focusing on their petrols, they've had a bigger focus on their diesels to the degree they've cut down their petrol options for this generation in favour of diesels despite their terrible previous diesel engines. I have a second generation six with the 2.5L petrol but I'm disappointed with the newer petrol engines which are nothing special compared to many other petrol engines in rivals.

I have a 2.0 SEL Nav (2015)
It handles well. The driving dynamics are excellent. The engine is refined and revs freely. If you want to go quicky it will, without fuss, but you have to press the loud pedal heavily. On a cruise at 70 it will do about 49mpg, on my start stop commute about 42mpg.
My only criticism would be that the road noise can be louder than you might expect on some surfaces.
The entertainment system is good, easy to navigate. The sat Nav is average, my phone is better. The Nav software is a bit slower than I would like, to initialise.
Is it better than a focus or a golf? I don't know. But I do like it. As usual some dealers are better than others!0 -

Probably since he was kicked out of a Toyota dealership for telling them his Yaris had no rear brakes, or the BMW dealership for saying Lexus were better. :rotfl:0 -
Incorrect right from the start, EU manufacturers moved toward Diesel in 2008-20012, since then diesel has been demonised in favour of EVs, people have grown sick of these unreliable diesel engines and petrol is now the thing to have.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
