Mrs. DoaM got an unexpected letter yesterday. Her insurance company (Halifax) are planning to increase her premium (plus add a £25 admin charge) for alleged incorrect declaration of previous insurance claims. She phoned them up and it seems it is because of an incident back in April of this year regarding a named driver on the policy (me), being declared as non-fault but registered on the CUE database as Fault.
After discovering this, I contacted my claims handler (FMG - the incident was with my company car). They looked and advised ... the other party haven't yet admitted liability* so its currently registered on CUE as Fault until the other party accepts liability! (Apparently they're disputing that any damage was caused. My company's insurer sent an assessor and they registered what damage existed. Yes it was minor, and may not have been obvious on the day of the incident [it was raining], but the damage did exist).
So because of insurers playing games, my wife has to live with increased premiums until the other party's insurer pulls their finger out of their butt!
* It was a clear-cut incident ... the other driver (of a Mercedes Sprinter van) reversed into me on an industrial site. It was even caught on CCTV by the site's security!
