How long before money taken?

Options
Last Friday i bought some beers from the pub using contactless. Was around £15. Didnt show up on my pending transactions but this sometimes happens with contactless payments. Anyway a week later and the money still hasnt been taken. I didnt get a receipt but assume the transaction completed otherwise the girl serving would have said so. I know transactions in theory can be settled months later, but seeing as nothing has been taken a week later is it safe to assume it wont be? Usually its only a few days for they money to go out of my account

No, it is not. There probably is a gremlin somewhere in the system and it takes a bit longer.

Does it not depend on when the receiving business requests the money, as I notice our vets' payments take ages to show up (though payment isn't contactless) ?

You've answered your own question (no it is not)

I spent £5 in a pub on the 1st July this year, I was tracking transactions to see if I could work out the pattern of when it would ask for a pin on TSB card for the 5% cash back which is how I know. The money still hasn't been taken, was a pin transaction.. presume bar man f***ed it up. (Didn't work out the pattern, other than it forced pin after around £60-70 worth of transactions, and was less strict with self serve supermarket machines)

Doesn't help you but chance you've won a free round.

Should have posted this in the TSB contactless post

Why? There's nothing to say that the card used was a TSB one, and as it's unspecified there's a much greater chance that it's not TSB than it is.

I meant this having said more about TSB than unclaimed card transactions.

We are only talking about £15. Just make a mental note that £15 may be taken from your account 'sometime' and get on with your life.
The more time that passes the less likely it will be taken. After 6 months has passed it is highly likely that it won't be taken ever but don't put yourself within £15 of your overdraft limit just to be sure.
Remember to leave extra time for everything over the holiday period.

It's a misplaced comment then because as I pointed out there is no suggestion that the card used was a TSB one.

I remember I donated £5 when I was 16 to Children in Need or Comic Relief and it took about 2 months to leave my account! Because I had little money back then it was sat in my account for ages and I always knew that's what it was for.

Christmas this year has lots of bank holidays/holiday days. 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th so banking transactions won't be taken until at least the 28th, that's if the pub processed the transaction in time of the banks shutting!
