Smart??? Parking!!!

Hello I received a letter from a debt collection firm working in behalf of smart parking for £160. Informing I had not paid the original fine when requested, I have not received any other letters regarding this. I telephoned the debt company explaining but they said there was nothing I could do now as it's been passed over to them. As I didn't receive an original letter/fine of course I didn't appeal, now I'm informed I'm too late to do so. Seems so unfair I popped into the sports direct spent £40 leaving my mother and children in the car. The lady on the phone told me I was registered as entering at 3:11 and leaving at 3:23 £160 for 11 mins seems an awful lot to me. Any advice would be appreciated!

You should have appealed but are now ignoring debt letters. No different from any other case except you could have got it cancelled by appeal and now will have to laugh at daft letters for months.I telephoned the debt company

Coupon-mad is one of the country's foremost experts on private parking matters. She is always helpful.
As you've reached debt collector stage there is not much more you can do other than ignore them - they have no power to do anything to you other than issue letters. But all this is explained in the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post 4, as referred to by C-m.
No one is ever advised to phone a debt collector (or PPC); nothing to your advantage will ever come out of it.
Have you complained to the retailer and asked them to intervene? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I have received many letters and not heard anything for a while until today I got a letter from Gladstone solicitors saying as I have not made payment to DRP our client has instructed us to recover the debt. It says our clients may now instruct us to take legal action unless I pay £160. Can anyone advise if I should ignore this?
Thanks0 -

What are they saying ..... DRP are just droid debt collectors
DRP CANNOT INSTRUCT A SOLICITOR ..... ONLY THE PPC CAN
Who is the PPC
Very misleading information but that is Gladstones for you, these boys will say anything for a buck
Not very smart when they get to court either, they have a habit of screwing themselves in front of judges0 -

You are being helped, yes - but you would have helped yourself better by doing as you agreed and checking the sticky before posting. Debt collectors are fully covered there without the need for yet another flaming DRP thread.0 -

gladstones are both debt collectors and solisitors , a clue might be , who are they daying to pay the money to? smart , or DRP?
smart do not do court , they think if they loose , they will be sent back to australia ,
what sort of site/location was this and is it in england?0 -
If they are saying to pay DRPlus then Gladstones have merely lent their letter-heading to DRPlus. That is not a formal Letter before Claim, just more debt rubbish.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
