MSE Credit Club addresses

Does anyone who runs the MSE Credit Club moderate these boards?

I've emailed the address on the website twice now and not received a response (creditclub@moneysavingexpert.com)

There is a problem with the service (and to a lesser extent the Eligibility Calculator), where a fully manual address entry cannot be added.

This is needed for those that have non standard addresses to ensure that they match exactly the Local Authority address format which is used on the Electoral Role.

    Hi there,

We monitor the boards and also the creditclub@moneysavingexpert.com inbox.

At the moment, as Credit Club connects with Experian, we don't currently allow manual entry of addresses to try and prevent users from failing verification (due to mismatch of address to how it appears on their credit file).

However, you can enter your address manually on our independent eligibility tools:

    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/eligibility/credit-cards/
    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/eligibility/loans-calculator/

    I hope that helps!

    This is the thing.

Experian does allow manual matching on their CreditMatcher and their CreditExpert products. Since the credit club connects with Experian you'd think MSE would allow manual entry also.

You say you don't allow it to prevent users from failing verification, but without it, other users who's electoral role address doesn't match the Royal Mails PAF will fail it.

The later is likely to be higher than the former. In my experience Electoral Role addresses (provided by the local council) rarely match exactly with the PAF.

My local council has amended my address and the PAF has been updated. This change is reflected on your form but still I can't be verified.

In your other tools which also use Experian for verification, where I can enter my address manually, verification works just fine.

Are you basically saying "tough luck go somewhere else since we're not going to help you join our credit club"

Hi your original post is from December so with your council updating the address during annual canvass it may not have been provided to the credit reference agencies yet..

You can also check to see if royal mail has updated it by checking HERE

Thirdly you might want to check that all of the companies that you hold/have held accounts with are also reporting your address in the amended format.

    hope this helps

Its not a problem with the way the address is held with the credit referencing agencies. They have it correct. I can access my report via all three of them.

It it specifically a problem with MSE's credit club and the way it uses the address which is why it needs to be entered manually.

Experian have even emailed me regarding this stating "The authentication process for Experian’s CreditMatcher is the same as that for MSE Credit Club product. This means the issue is likely to be the format of your address again."

Note, that I have full access to their CreditMatcher which allows manual address entry. Seemingly Experian doesn't share the concerns you mention in the quote "we don't currently allow manual entry of addresses to try and prevent users from failing verification (due to mismatch of address to how it appears on their credit file)."

    Hi c-m,

At the moment, the club doesn't allow manual entry in the same way as Experian's Credit Matcher service.

If our system is yet to have been updated with the recent formatting of your address, then unfortunately, it's just a case of waiting until our address database has been updated with the latest PAF information which I appreciate is frustrating.

Once this has been updated then you should be able to register for the club. Ideally in the long run, we should allow the use for manual entry of addresses to overcome this issue and this is something we're currently looking into.

The problem is that your system has picked up the new PAF address. But I feel that some elements my be placed in the wrong boxes so to speak. Due to the way the addresses in my area are made up I need to manually be able to input the house name, street name, district etc.

If MSE is considering allowing manual entries in the future, then I'm happy to leave it that. I appreciate that you've done what you can for now.
