Travel Insurance Problem

Hi All
I wonder if someone can help on this.
Last January I took out annual travel insurance for me and my family with LV.
In October I booked a holiday (to be taken next summer).
I have just received the renewal notice for the travel insurance from LV. The renewal price quotes is 50% higher than last year, despite no claims!
My dilemma is this - surely I have to keep continuity of insurance with LV in order to be fully insured for the holiday I booked in October? However, with their ridiculous renewal quote, they have me over a barrel so to speak....
Can anyone advise on solutions to this so I am still fully insured for my holiday next year?
Thanks
M

You can buy a new policy and be insured, you don't need to have been insured at the time of booking,0

And to add,you would have been covered with the original policy if something had happened to make you cancel the holiday.0 -
So, to confirm- if I take a new policy:
I'm covered for cancellation under the old policy
I'm covered for everything else under the new policy.
Is that right? Seems a bit convoluted0 -
I would say that the old policy covers you until it ends, and the new policy covers you from when it starts, just make sure there isn't a gap between the two dates.0

Thanks. I just rang LV to negotiate but they won't budge an inch!
Very strange.0 -

No
the new policy will cover the cancellation going forward assuming it has cancellation included as part of the policy and that you have no pre exisiting conditions that you havent disclosed etc etc0
