Hi everyone, thanks for the thread nmlc xx

I will be popping to Ts shortly for a few bits. Luckily I can go on foot as the car parking is awful year-round. Will pick up aged parents later and bring them here then sort out where they will sleep. We have a sofa bed downstairs and will move either DD or DS2 to share (parents are divorced - can't expect them to top n tail lol)

Bathrooms need doing and I've just put on a wash load. DH, DD and DS2 still asleep so I'm hoping by the time I get back from Ts there will be some movement.

Jackie - small world, my BFF lives in Hertford and I know it well having grown up in Broxbourne. Hope you enjoy the wedding xxx

Hugs to all the poorlies and those caring for their loved ones. Please know that I am thinking of you all. I've been so lucky to have had the support of you all, especially the last few weeks with all that has happened to my family - thank you all xxx

The decision has been made - no travelling anywhere today, tomorrow, Christmas Day or Boxing Day. I'm both relieved and sad.

Washing machine whirring, woodburner flaming and breakfast just about ready.

    Morning all,

Nice blowy day here I have two loads to go on the line will finish it off in the TD later.

All heavy housework was done yesterday so today I am going to make a cheesecake and make the cauli / broc cheese. Tomorrow we just need to hoover through and mop the floors.

My shopping came last night OH opened the door whilst I unpacked it, it was only when the driver had gone that I noticed he had not left the frozen bits  I phoned the store to be told he couldn't re-deliver but the refunded me, OH is having to nip to the shop today which is the last thing we wanted !

My sister is flying home today so our lodger will be going home today.

    Jackie enjoy the wedding xx

Camelot I love your kitchen I have great kitchen envy !

Stay safe in the storm every one

    Have good days all xx
  • Hello everyone, quick post before I go out to see a friend.
All gifts are wrapped, unfortunately OH bought some extremely pretty wrapping paper that shed glitter all over, quite appalling this week but possibly not in the longer term as I know I'll be finding glittery places for a while. Yesterday I had glittery socks.

OH has been to pick up the final fresh food and it is hardly as though we have to withstand a siege, what we don't have, we shan't fret about. I do see that he has got some sprouts which I love but he and DS regard as little green balls of death, that was kind.

Very windy here now and in our yard I can see a pair of socks that are not ours, no idea where they have blown in from.

I must be off, have a lovely day all and I hope the wedding is lovely for JackieO
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Scampi had a fab day yesterday. In the morning we bumped into his mate Milo so they played for a while. He dozed for most of the afternoon then we headed out to play with Ted and Mable. The walk was a barky, lunging nightmare (car headlights!) so we decided to walk down the path next to the field, which is pitch black. I had to use the phone as a torch, I couldn't see a thing, lol. The three of them zoomed around friend's house, I thought it was a bit much so said I'd get him to sit with me in the kitchen for a few minutes to calm it down a bit, I was firmly told no, let them carry on. Ted and Mable refuse to walk on wet grass so this was the first proper exercise they'd had for days :D
Mr LW and I treated ourselves to one of these each:

It's especially good with the mobility scooter, because I don't need an extra hand to carry a torch.
I'm so glad Scampi has some doggy friends; I do think it does them good to socialise with other dogs. :o

I had an unexpected card from little Ronnie and his humans, which was a lovely surprise. :D

We went into town yesterday and did everything we needed to do, including booking theatre tickets, for a play at the end of January; but I'm afraid the trip was too much for me, so it's an enforced sofa day today. One day, I'll learn to pace myself.....
Still, if all goes according to plan, I shan't need to leave the house again til at least Tuesday. ;)

    Evening all,

Got the turkey and beef out defrosting, made a malteaser cheesecake and the cauli and broc cheese, I have also chopped a mountain of leeks and fried them off in butter and garlic (they will just need re-heating).

Got the washing off the line nearly dry and put it in the TD only for it to stop working half way through :( OH has now got it in bits in the utility room trying to fix it, last thing we need ! I wanted to be sat with a glass of fizz by now !

Sister's flight from Venice is delayed due to strong winds at Gatwick, and DD and her friend are struggling home from London in manic traffic !

Hope your days have been better than mine :D

    Hello all,

JackieO wishing you great fun and hope you are in tip top shape for the big day tomorrow, enjoy it!

Gers i hope you don't feel too sad and feel more relieved. I don't know about the sad bit, but there is a lot to be said about staying still for a few days. Especially in winter and extra especially during Christmas time when the majority of people move frantically!

Sending well wishes to all the poorlies here and poorlies family members, and hugs to those who need them. I don't always remember you name by name but you are always, collectively, in my prayers.

Well, am back at my mum's and in a quiet way I am relieved. The B&B where we stayed for 3 nights was weird, or I should say, the owners were. Generous and helpful to excess (read = invasive). Meaning well, trying to be helpful, they hovered over us like mother hens. One of the nights we waited to very late to get back to avoid them, tiptoed in and managed to get into our room without being stopped and questioned, whether we went to the recommended restaurant, visited the recommended churches etc...

The next morning, at breakfast, she told us that they were so concerned at our being so late that they were considering phoning us on my mobile. Drily I said that they would not have got through because we keep our phones off on holiday. It did not stop the relentless chat. Arghhhhhhh!

At least here at mum's I can go to my room and close the door, for the most part.

Dinner is ready, got to go, have a good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Not unless I want to be. Already had three offers, however I will probably take the time to indulge in Dr Who etc. I have plenty of stocks and will be content. More importantly my DM has taken up an offer from friends so will be fine.

The storm is still raging round my house. It's really exposed to the Atlantic winds and rain. I'm cosy and comfortable.

Caterina - your time at home sounds unsettling, hope it improves for you. And yes, I'm not that keen on the festivities surrounding Christmas or the sometimes forced jollity so am happy to be here alone.

    All's well.

JackieO....I hope that your grandsons wedding is a wonderful celebration for your family, and that you have recovered sufficiently to make the most of every minute.

Gers, sorry you cant be with your mum forChristmas, but at the same time am a little jealous at the thought of you having just you to please!

Caterina....enjoy the rest of your holiday in Sardinia, I really hope that we can spend some time there next summer.

Becoming used to the heat here, its lovely to spend time with DGD7 as I think that they will be here for another year, so need to make the most of now.

Csarina....sorry to hear that you are so tired, please take care.

    Hilstep, thinking of you.

TA, thinking of your family, trusting that Christmas will go well for you all.

Wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas
