Just bought house with a low arch that hid an unsecured lintel do I have any recourse

Over in Scotland the seller has to warrant the house (with fair wear and tear excepted) for 5 working days post the sale
I have came across this working to the buyers advantage a couple of times.
One this year was when a lady bought a house (8 years old) and had a boiler / heating service done to find out the existing boiler should have been condemned as there was a hole in the flue.
She had the survey on the day she moved in and got 50% of the new boiler costs from the previous owner.baldly going on...0 -

Hey, I'm in complete agreement! I was just taking issue with Doozer's suggestion that the weight was not being transferred to the ground!
