So my washing machine isn't working (or more to the point, the hose or something at the back is leaking).
As the machine is 6 1/2 years old and where the leak is, is very difficult to fix apparently (my dad who's not an expert by any means, but who has tried patching up said hose and it's not worked), I should get a new one.
I've looked some up and I can get one for £159.99, but my mum (who is my childminder and pa, haha) has vetoed it as she's going on about spin speed and size of drum.
So what should I be looking for exactly? I don't want to spend a lot (obviously).

When you say "Should I get a new one?" I assume you mean a new washing machine and not a new hose.

The more you can get in at once, the better, imho. So look for one with a 9kg load, you can do a king size lot of bedding and a bit more in that. Spin speeds, the faster they go the more water comes out. I've one that does 1200 and am happy with that. Curry's have a guide to the specs. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/washing-machine-buying-guide-517-commercial.html'Get Brexit done' is a lie[

If it is actually one of the hoses or connectors that is leaking then a few pounds will buy a replacement. I would poke around more in the back of the washing machine to see if it could be a cheap replacement part before paying out to buy a new one.But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

My priorities were adjustable temperature and spin speed (some have set temperatures for set washes) and a machine that didn't beep when it finished! This limited the options quite a lot. the And I didn't want a digital control panel. Ended up with a hotpoint for £230.
1200 spin is fine for most things, 1400 for heavier materials, I don't think any more that that is of much benefit. I also think 9kg is a bit big (depending on how you separate your loads ) but they use water according to load size so a part empty machine doesn't matter as much.
I'm guessing getting a new hose wouldn't solve your problem?
(Also if you're getting a bigger drum size check the measurements. The first one I ordered with a bigger drum wouldn't go through my narrow door. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

As theoretica says, try spending a quid on a new hose first.0

try searching u-tube as there is usually a clip posted by some kind soul showing you how to fix it.
I have managed to get and attach a replacement element for my cooker for under £20, fix a loud noise on my frost-free fridge freezer safely and free with a hairdryer and change the broken lock on my dishwasher for around £15.
